I always turn the faucet on the hottest setting from the get go to avoid washing my hands in cold water. Usually by the time I'm getting to the end of the hand washing I'm trying go as fast as I can do avoid burning the hell out of my hands. Typically I can avoid the 3rd degree burns on my hands, but sometimes I admit it's a close call.

I do this too. At work there are separate hot and cold handles, so I end up having to turn on the cold to keep from burning myself. For some reason I never think to do this before burning myself.Comment

I do the same thing and then I turn off the taps with the paper towel. Otherwise your hands will be filled with germs from the faucets.Comment

I use hot water too, but it's because it feels better on my hands than cold water. Nothing to do with whether I think it cleans my hands better."The best thing about being a football player at Alabama...winning...winning." -Mark Barron

Re: Washing your hands question...
When given a choice, hot water. Turn off the water and open the door with a paper towel. No need picking up the germs you just got rid of.Comment

Same, but does hot water clean your hands more thoroughly than cold water? Ever restaurant that has signs up about employee's washing their hands say to use hot water...Comment
