You ever stop and think that you might be getting someone else sick?

I really hope you're being sarcastic.

when i wash my hands its always hot water.
i cant use sanitizer because my hands will split open all over the place, and thats worse than getting the flu.

sanitizer is probably the biggest scam going.

Just dont touch any orifices without washing your hands, and you most likely wont get sick.

I'm being 100% serious here. And I might sound like a huge douche for saying this, but I'm not responsible for some random stranger having a weak immune system and getting sick because I didn't wash my hands. If someone thnks they could get sick because of somebody else's germs, they really should avoid public bathrooms altogether.

I'm not saying Im gonna drop a deuce and flick feces on the wall with my bare hands, but if I touch my body while I'm doing my business, as long as theres no smell attached and no stains or remians on them, why wash my hands?

Germs are everywhere, you can't avoid them. Perhaps being exposed to them actually makes you stronger. For you guys that open doors with paper towels, what do you do in other settings where theres a ton of people? Do you guys not ride public transportation, or go to ballgames etc? This whole hand sanitizer movement just seems silly to me.

Is there a particular reason that you stubbornly save ten seconds by not washing your hands after using the bathroom? It's an honest question, as I really don't know why it is that they don't just be a bit more responsible. It's kind of a win-win.

Maybe its part philosophy, but its mostly just the fact I genuinely find it to be pointless. Like I said, if there are others who happen to be in the bathroom at the same time as me, I will wash my hands, but only to appease them. Thats the extent of it. Even if it only takes 10 seconds, I find it to be a waste. I'm getting nothing out of it, and nobodys else knows I'm washing my hands, so what are they getting out of it?

I look at it like this, the people that don't care about washing hands (people like me) aren't going to care either way if I wash them or not. The people that do care are opening the door handles with paper towels anyway. Maybe I'm missing something.

It's usually the germophobes that get sick the more often. Mainly because they avoid germs so much that their immune system is weak and doesn't fight.

Your theory holds water, but it's like those stories of people who work at like Burger King or KFC and spit in people's orders when they're making them: just because the customer doesn't know what's going on, doesn't totally justify what you're doing (even if it doesn't hurt them).

I guess I just find it gross. As someone who bites my nails (which is probably a lot worse), I make sure my hands, and fingernails, are squeaky clean before I even consider doing such a thing. Any time before I eat, I have to smell my hands and always say, "Yup, time for a good washing." I'll wash them anyway, but the reaffirmation is important for me.

If you go to the bathroom, then smell your fingers afterwards, just make sure that smell tells you, "These are the same hands I'm eating my food with, shaking hands with, and touching doorknobs with." Frankly, I find it disgusting. At least you're one not one of the people who will show off to everybody in the bathroom that you blatantly don't wash your hands after taking care of your business.

I also wouldn't call myself a "germophobe." I would just say what I'm doing is normal.

Haha that's true about the exposure to germs strengthening resistance. My old roommate was a teacher and she would bring home all sorts of cold & flu bugs every year. Naturally she would get sniffles for a day or two and I'd get bronchitis for 2 weeks. Now that I live alone I haven't been sick since a random stomach virus knocked me out a few months ago.

What the heck with this thread?

I'm pretty sure fish was just talking about the game of risk he partakes in every single time he washes his hands, not germs.

I too enjoy this mini-game as someone else so eloquently put it. Trying to complete a full wash before the water becomes excruciating hot? Yes, please.

Not using hand sanitizer because you believe its use is largely a waste of time? I can understand that one, I refuse to use it myself.

But not washing your hands at least as a common courtesy toward other people? That's just plain ****ing wrong.
