Welp, last night I made the trip to 711. It's literally right down the street from me. Got a Gatorade and some other stuff. Paid with my card. Grabbed my stuff and bounced out. Put my stuff on the roof of my car, grabbed my keys, then grabbed my stuff and threw it into my passenger seat.
Felt naked on the minute ride home. Felt like I forgot something. Sure enough, my wallet was nowhere to be found. Checked all around and in my car. Nope.
Gone forever. I carry my ID, debit card and account number, and medical card in there. The rest of the stuff is just groceries cards and stuff. I only had a dollar in there, and some receipts. Just another hassle to cancel all of it, get a new ID, etc.
But I drove back up to the 711 to see if I really had left it there. I bust in to the 711 and ask the clerk if he's seen my wallet. He asks my name, I recite it back to him, and he says, how much money did you have in there? "A dollar."

Sure enough, it was found and returned to the clerk. I believe it either fell out of my pocket in the parking lot or off the top of my car. Some good person had picked it up and gave it back to the guy. Without taking anything out of it. Apparently, the person had recognized me... I think it might have been the guy standing behind me in line. I think he graduated a year or two ahead of me, I don't really know his name or him, but he looked familiar.
I was kind of just in shock that there are other people out there who are just good to random strangers. We all see so much bad everyday, so much rudeness and stupid stuff, it kind of caught me off guard that someone 1) returned my wallet and 2) without taking anything from it.
This may be one of the few times where I can say my faith in humanity has been restored quite a bit. Goodness has not been ridden from this world yet. I try to do the right things every day, hold doors for people, just generally being courteous and everything, and it just made me so very happy to know someone else is out there doing these things for people they don't know, too.
Hope this inspires someone on here. If everyone here does a good deed, even if it's the smallest of deeds, once a day... we've made the world a less scary and better place, no matter how miniscule it may seem. I'll always remember that one time when some guy returned my lost wallet because I know it's exactly what I would have done if the roles were reversed. Just to know you're not alone in how you go about your business, it makes ya feel good.
