As I approached her, at first she looked suspicious (this is still LA after all), but when she saw what I had, she was absolutely relieved. She offered me a reward, but I told her that's alright, and walked off.

Even though I felt great about it, I hope that the three people that passed between us, and were now in line behind her, felt like ****.
I hate it when women, or an elderly woman offers me money (couple to five bucks) when I help them carry an appliance, or vacuum that's too heavy for them to their car in the parking lot.

They insist and I just tell them I don't need it, and to have a nice day. Isn't that just the expected thing to do? I'd feel bad taking their money.

      This x 1000

It's a nice story and all, but what could have possibly been stolen considering the circumstances of only having a dollar in cash in the wallet? If there had been $500 or more in cash in there at the time then the outcome would have been quite different 90% of the time or more.

If they insist, I try to get them to give it to someone on the street or donate it. Pay it forward.
