Re: Off Topic 2012
I don't know. I'm getting to the point where I am working with people who are 5+ years younger than me and it's starting to freak me out a little bit. Granted, I do work in retail and this is pretty common place, but ages are starting to freak me the hell out.Too Old To Game Club

that mkoz thing still freaks me out a little.

At my job most of the people are like 20-30 years older than me. I think most of the younger kids work days (smart kids lol) so I'm the second-youngest on nights.
Speaking of that, I totally regret ever applying for an overnight job. It sucks. I wish I had applied for days, but at the same time I'm not sure I'd be able to handle the amount of customers that are in the store at that time. It was bad enough working overnight around Christmas time, so I can just imagine what it'd be like during the peak hours of the day.
Plus the other thing that doesn't help is that I'm so used to my current work environment that I don't know if I'd want to change that. I'm not sure I'd want to have to go through basically being "the new kid at school" so to speak, even though I'm going to have to go through that eventually when I move on to another job.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: Off Topic 2012
When I worked for a surface mine, I loved the Owl shift (11-7)... cool outside and generally speaking, we did less work.. except days when they wanted to run coal or day shift was behind.
Depending on which job it is, I would actually prefer nights. With my current job, I'm cool with my 10-6:30 schedule.Comment

The good thing is that today I was actually able to go and play some basketball for the first time in so long. It felt so damn good being on a court and just shooting around again. It's things like this that I've been missing since I started working.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Working overnight stock is a soul-sucking job. Especially if you have a girl. I lasted 2 months. Decent money, though.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Off Topic 2012
What a weekend. Is it Friday yet? I need sleep.
Saturday I went hiking for a couple hours; about 5 miles total. It was pretty much the first time I had tried doing something like that other than the 40 minute "leg stretcher" trails, but it was great. Beautiful woods. Nice and cool air and breeze. Plus along the trail was a pretty cool 30ft waterfall and stream. I definitely enjoyed it and hope to get back soon. The trail area we did has a loop that is a little over 9 miles that I would like to do in full sometime. Not sure how I would do on a 9 mile/5 hour hike, though.
Got back home and pretty much felt like doing all of nothing after I took a shower. I borrowed Thor and Captain America from my brother and watched them to get ready for The Avengers. I really, really liked the characters and overall story in Captain America, but as a movie it just ended up being okay. I like the style they were going for, but not all comic book styles translate effectively the same way to film. Thor I liked a little bit less. As a movie I had the same problems, but I didn't really "get" Loki (I understood the story, just didn't feel there was enough to explain his motiviation/personality other than the "That's just how Loki.") Thor was cool. Sometimes his accent would take me out of it, but I really liked the sci-fi fantasy super hero angle of the film. Even though I have dibs on her, Natalie Portman and that set of characters felt kind of useless other than being a vehicle for Thor to learn humility and respect.
Then of course yesterday was Mother's Day. My brother and I cooked breakfast for the parents and hung out with them all day. Shopping for cards is probably the worst experience ever. All the cards suck. They're all too PC, too sappy, too corny, no personality. The one good one I actually found was in Hallmark's "Magohany" line. The goal in my family is not to see who can make our mother cry, but who can do it the fastest. I don't think mom got past the picture of the front of the card.
Now its Monday and blah. Tomorrow night I'm going to see The Avengers, so I'm excited for that.
