The vampire fad has gone way too far. It's about time that someone tries to put an end to it.



I did not know that, so I revise my previous statement. I would like to track down the author and personally punch them in the face.

Why? Its an awesome idea. Better than the same ol drab **** that gets pushed out of Hollywood on a weekly basis.

I guess it's really a matter of opinion, but I guess that my thinking is that it has been just a bit drawn out. I suppose part of it is the fact that despite the involvement of vampires, Twilight (pretty much the movie that started the most recent vampire fad) was definitely geared toward chicks. And possibly another part of it is that I love the old vampire movies (especially the original Dracula movie) so it could be the fact that Hollywood is systematically trying to replace the Dracula image with one of Honest Abe that rubs me the wrong way. But, I will have to concede that it's better than every movie in the theater being a romantic comedy...

It is definitely unique. It's just that some of it feels very forced. Looking through that list, I saw a few like the Sense and Sensibilities one, that I could just imagine the thinking that went through the minds of the producers on that one. "Well what if we did a movie based on the novel Sense and Sensibilities?" "Well... that's not a bad idea, but what if we added sea monsters?" I don't know... seems a little random, but I may have to give it a try.

But ol Abe isn't a vampire. He's killing them. And with style. If he is attempting to replace anybody its Van Helsing and hopefully he can wash that putrid taste out of my mouth from attempting to watch that first film.

Twilight has and never will be a vampire series to me. Its characters are hallowed out enough for teeny girls to throw themselves in the shoes of Kristen Stewart to have some sparkling (seriously WTF?) pale *** skinny boy prance around after them.

Honestly, I don't think the vampire fad really got that big unless I'm completely blanking on a handful of movies between now and 2008.

I think I see where you're coming from. I guess another part of it to me, is that I find all this paranormal stuff to be stupid and rather pointless, not to mention completely fictional, so because of that fact, I really don't get all that excited about seeing that sort of thing in TV and Movies. I think that these films/shows take themselves far too seriously, unlike the old monster movies, though that may be my perception only, and be completely untrue.

As far as the vampire fad thing, I was thinking mostly of Twilight and True Blood, though I feel like there may have been a few more I'm forgetting

Vampire fad been around since 1997 with Buffy the Vampire series that lasted 6 years, then Angel the Buffy series spin off lasted 5 years.

Then you have True Blood series that was on HBO
