The good thing, along with pay, is that every now and again (after a year and change of profitability) you get gain sharing. Depending on your department (Front-end was the worst for this) you could receive an extra 500+ in one check every quarter.

Well that's definitely a nice perk. I've never worked at a place that hooks it's employees up like that. Not much growth in the food/restaurant industry I guess.

This is why I went into healthcare 10 years ago. 9 weeks of vacation time currently on the books and incredible benefits.

I'm taking the entire month of July off. Well almost. June 29th to July 23rd to be exact. All paid.

Had to turn on the central air when I got home. The upstairs thermostat read 86 degrees. It was only in the low 70's today, but the humidity is ridiculous.

Eh, its been hovering around the mid 90s all week.. and I work outside right now.. really blows. I probably look like a racoon, since I'm Always wearing sunglasses...

I had an extra pumpkin from Halloween that we never carved up sitting out in my patio all this time.

Well, yesterday it finally gave in and called it quits and melted and collapsed. The most disgusting looking & smelling thing you could ever imagine. Of course I had my son clean it up and throw it out.

Why was it there all this time? We just forgot about it and never payed it any attention till it left a trail of internal, rotten slime running out of it lol.

Chef at a hospital, right? That's such a sweet gig. Though I've heard you have your long days too so you've earned your vacation time.

But that's one of those jobs that no one thinks about. Yeah you're doing a known career (culinary). But it's in a different setting then your typical kitchen.

Yeah it's a bit different but I still put in the same amount of hours. I generally work 6 to 4. On the weekends we do outside catering I'll put 11 to 12 hours in.

On most days I'm typically off by 500pm. (except those catering weekends, which aren't too many)

Can't beat that in the executive chefs position.

I'm a very fortunate person. And I give thanks everyday for being in the position I'm currently in.

I think I've figured out what's wrong with my a/c unit. The compressor is overheating in the sun because it works ok overnight and in the morning, but only runs for like 3 minutes during the afternoon/evening before shutting off. I'm gonna need a repair, where is Childish Gambino when you need him

So are you also involved at least patially with preparing patient meals as well then?

That reminds me of a medical blooper I read in one of my page-a-day calenders a number of years ago.

This lady comes into the ER complaining of a rash on her arm. Dr. asks what she had been doing the previous day to see if she had maybe come in contact with something. Her response that since it had been such a beautiful and sunny day, her and a friend had spent the day driving around in the car. The 'rash' was sunburn.

Damn, that sucks you still haven't gotten it fixed. I guess I really lucked out with since, though my building is quite old, the maintenance staff is amazing. I'd have to give tham an A+. When my living room AC crapped out a few years ago, I emailed them to ask them to send someone over and fix/replace it then left to go somewhere cool to work. Came home 4 or 5 hours later and I already had a new AC in the window AND they even checked and cleaned/tuned the AC in my bedroom.
