Honestly it depends how much I know the person before hand. If we've talked or have known each other before, then a dinner/movie combination is a pretty good to go. At least somewhere in that $$$ ballpark.
If its a "setup" date or I'm meeting this chick for the first time cold turkey, then usually its just dinner or something simple like that. It leaves you with the option to do something after dinner if its working or splitting if it isn't and it won't break the bank. I feel like the more "expensive" dates should come after the second or third date when I start to feel comfortable about continuing to see them.
$100 on the first date? F that.
Obviously if you can afford it then more power to you, but my budget can't support that because its more important for me to pay down bills than it is to try and impress a chick with my wad of cash.
