    Re: Off Topic 2012

I jumped up craving some breakfast, so threw on a jacket and some running shoes and sprinted to the car and proceeded to go out the driveway.

I got to the end of the road, then realized I would have to stop for gas in shorts... I didn't think that through at all.

Getting a colonoscopy wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't at 3 pm, I haven't eaten since 9p last night. So hungry.

Slick, I've been in your position before. Stuck at a job I absolutely hated.

The only advice I can give is get out As soon as possible. No point in lingering, hoping the situation gets better when it clearly won't, only causes stress for yourself. Keep your current job and keep working if you need to keep your income, but try to force yourself to search for opportunities. (I know it's hard in this job market but something will turn up even if it's a temporary stop gap until you can get something better)

I decided to take today off work.

I've got to work an unusual Saturday, for a big event with some of my installers, so I've got to cut out my potential overtime.

They won't allow us to have anything over 40 hours, without cutting it.

I love my boss. I go on vacation, and forgot to tell her that this week I start school which means less availability and she explained that it's my responsibility to tell her ahead of time blah blah blah but she was able to change my schedule to the exact one I need. I thought I was going to be busy from 8:30 AM - 9:30 PM on Thursday but now I won't have to do that

That's a cool boss right there. My old boss would never let me pull something like that off with little to no notice.

Yeah, it's been a week and a half now since this new guy came on. I've been trying to keep an open mind, and the work routine isn't THAT bad (some things he's done have been good, only a few bad). I just know this schedule **** is going to be a constant battle. I need a set schedule because I based my school schedule around the schedule I had been getting for the past year.

I just probably can't find the same wage anywhere else, unless I wait tables. I told myself I wouldn't do that again, but I'm probably going to have to go in that direction to make similar money. Truthfully, I could close and it wouldn't be a problem. But I was getting the hours and days I wanted without closing with my old manager, so it's possible. I just don't think this guy wants someone who can open and not close. They say "just in case," but I know they'll put me on to close AT LEAST once a week. Like I said, it's really not that big of a deal, but I don't want them to know that. I'm not doing favors for this crappy company or this new manager.

To add to it, I'm in school now. So my availability is limited for the first time ever. I know this guy is going to schedule me in on days I have school because he hasn't even asked about it. That's probably how I get fired... he schedules me in, I say I'm in school at that time. I know this dude wants his own people in there, he just needs a solid reason to get rid of us that are hanging in there. After tomorrow's 10+ hour shift, I've only got short shifts on Friday and Saturday (he took me off opening Friday's, my typical 10 hour shift, and put himself on...) so I've got time to look for something else.

It just sucks that this has all transpired. Completely flipped my world upside down, at a bad time (school just started, moving out at the end of the month). The one thing I took for granted, a good work environment, is gone.

Yeah, neither would my first job's boss. I'm grateful

Can you sit down and talk with this guy, and tell him about your School schedule? and that you'd like to work around it, maybe make a compromise that you will close one night a week if you can learn from somebody?

I think you want to stay at this job as long as you can have some stability in your schedule, and your hours don't get cut too much. If the management won't at least hear you out and listen to your schedule issue, you probably deserve to be else where.

Started my new job with the Seattle Storm yesterday, and the job is going to be really fun and challenging. Better yet, it's snowing like crazy here in Seattle and since people can't deal with the snow west of the Cascade Mountains, I get a snow day today!

Second day of work and I get a free day off, can't beat that!
