You've probably mentioned what it is you do in the pass so forgive me for asking...

In what capacity if I may ask?

Sounds like a cool gig either way, congrats. You'll get to mingle amongst all the equines.

I think you want to stay at this job as long as you can have some stability in your schedule, and your hours don't get cut too much. If the management won't at least hear you out and listen to your schedule issue, you probably deserve to be else where.
I probably can. He straight up asked me if I planned to stick around with the changes, and I said yes. Because I do want to stay, the work isn't that bad. I just don't want to close. We've had that discussion, and he never said point blank you have to know how to close or else you can't be a shift runner. I figured if he was going to, he would have said it by now. Which I have no problem with him saying, that just means I know I need a new job. But he's like dancing around it, he knows I don't want to and if I don't have to then I won't. But then he scheduled me to do so I'm like what? I just don't see what the problem is... it's not like I'm hoarding the best shifts, I'm only opening twice a week and he cut my hours on the weekend.

I can kind of just see the writing on the wall. I guess I'm being stand-offish by not going out of my way to close or have a talk with this guy, it's almost like I want it to reach that tipping point. I really don't because I do everything to shy away from conflict, but I just feel like all of this is going to blow up at some point. I just know if I give in a little bit I'll get completely taken advantage of, so I'm trying hard to resist as much as possible.

Writing this all down is helping. It sounds like I definitely need to find a new job because I don't think this guy will be happy with me telling him, "No." Although it really shouldn't be a problem, I'm just not as flexible as other people and I'm not giving my life to this company. I'm not going above and beyond, I'm there to do my assigned job and then I clock out and go home. Period.

You can't dance around the issue. That's just holding yourself back, and it's also holding your manager back because he won't know exactly when he can schedule you.

You definitely need to just straight up go and talk to him, and say this is exactly when I can work, I am not willing to close, and he can either work around your availability, or he'll cut your hours down or tell you that is not an acceptable availability for what I'm looking for, and you can move on with some closure looking for another job.

It's sometimes a little nerve-wrecking to just go up to your Bosses and be up front. Trust me I was in the same position, but you will feel a whole lot better afterwards. It's not like you're demanding they accommodate you, just let it be known you need to work a certain schedule... and they either work around your needs or they can't.

Detroit sports need to stop having halftime shows. First Nikelback for the Lions, now Vanilla Ice for the Pistons.

You're completely right. Thanks, I needed a little kick in the *** in the right direction.

I'm in all day tomorrow, working, so scratch that off the list, but I think on Friday morning/afternoon I'll go in and have a little chat with him. Like you said, there's only a few possible outcomes. I get my schedule, or I don't and I have to look elsewhere. Pretty simple.

My coworker and I are machines sometimes.

Just went out for lunch to the pizza place right next door, 2 large pies, 1 for each.

In other news, I have REALLY got to stop replacing the "igh" words (light, sight, etc.) with "yte" on this and other sites. It is starting to become a habit, and working it's way into my work e-mails. I do a good enough job of looking like an idiot by myself, don't need to add exclamation points to it.

Aww, man. That's terrible to hear. Cheer up, bro. After all... you know... the Pistons aren't relevant enough for people to notice anyways.

I'm supposed to make a Bucks joke here, but apparently they're the only Wisconsin team not relevant enough for your sig.
