I got out of work more days during the flood last September (3) than I have gotten out of work due to snow in the last 3 years, which is another reason why I miss grade school...more snow days = I don't have to drive in it = I can enjoy it.

Yeah, I'll take a blizzard over hurricanes any day, despite missing out on some parties.

I've never seen a blizzard do to an area what Katrina did to Louisiana.

School yes, work no. At least here. You're expected to be into work regardless of weather conditions...unless the state declares a snow emergency (closes all roads and makes it illegal to drive)

I've never gotten off work because of snow myself, but I know many people who have. Never really bothered me though, nice to get paid to "work" when you aren't really doing anything. I had fun a few years ago when it snowed about 10" and I was at work. We had one total customer the entire 8 hours I was there.

I've never gotten off work because of snow myself, but I know many people who have. Never really bothered me though, nice to get paid to "work" when you aren't really doing anything. I had fun a few years ago when it snowed about 10" and I was at work. We had one total customer the entire 8 hours I was there.

That happened to me once. Except it just meant more pointless stocking shelves and whatnot

My cousin got sent home super early today because, surprisingly, no one wants to buy Mercedes or parts in the middle of a snow storm.

Yeah obviously there's always a chance for those storms like Katrina, etc but it's apart of the territory and the odds of those huge storms are usually on the low side. Most storms I've been apart of it's either "oh look it's raining guess I'll go sleep or play video games" or "dang it's really raining I'll either sit here and watch or go sleep somewhere"

I was the boss when it happened to me. Told everyone who hadn't shown up to stay home, and sent home all but one person out of those who managed to drive in. We sat around, talked, played cards, and played some computer game that I can't remember the name of. The one where you have the colored balls that you shoot up and try to clear the screen or something like that.

IIRC our one customer ordered a drink for $1.49 plus tax. Well worth all the money it cost the store to pay me, my employee, and all the electrical bills.

If I had the money to blow I'd totally go to a car dealership during a snow storm. "Why yes, I'd like to take a test drive." Be great to see the reaction, especially at something like a Mercedes dealer.

Getting off school for snow? HA. That's not the Lincoln-Way.

(We did have a snow day last year on my birthday, but only one and that was for a blizzard)
