The gif thing was just a microcosm of the crap that was going on in this thread. I disagree with Kyle, in that OT 2010 and 2011 were awesome, but towards the end of 2011 and now in 2012, OT has just been a spam fest of people posting just to post, for whatever reason, and it's gotten annoying to the point where I almost just unsubscribed from the thread altogether. I mean, quality > quantity. At least in past OTs, the quality to garbage ratio was much higher

I can agree that the "gif hour" and post count tracking were never good ideas. I just don't see why we suddenly have to start posting our life stories here with every post we make.

It's funny this gets brought up now because I was actually looking back at older OTs and there is a difference between what they were and what they are now. The thing is, that goes for all of OS. At it's core it's still the same place, but dig a little deeper and there's a big difference.

I just don't see the big deal here. People are interacting with each other, it's civil, there is no gifs being posted just to be posted or initiate a "gif hour", Burgh has stopped with the weekly post leaders things, etc. If that isn't good enough then what's the point of having this thread any more?

I never really got into Seinfeld. I'll watch it every now and then if I see it on, but I don't follow it nearly as much as you guys do.

In other news, I'm waiting to get The Show... until about 12:30 or 1 tomorrow. There's really no point in going to a midnight release, and since I have a copy reserved I can just walk in and pick it up after class.

You're missing the point. Its more about the quality in the thread, not just posting to post. That is fine, but spamming the thread is not allowed, like this is dog said, quality over quantity.

Well I would have hoped from a better response from you.

I like you and pretty much every poster in this thread. We are what keeps OS what it is.

It has nothing to do with stopping of GIF hour though.

This thread used to be an ongoing discussion. It has since become mindless post after mindless post.

As I mentioned, my post had nothing to do with me being a mod. I used to genuinely enjoy this thread at an obsessive level. I got to know other people here and it really felt like a family. I hate that that feeling has gone away.

I would like to see us come back to that. I just haven't seen that in this thread in awhile. We used to talk about our lives with each other. Not just post random things just to do so.

I'm just trying to say that this thread was where we could come together and get to know each other and I in no way feel that way anymore.

This last weekend, I flew to Colorado to see the Avalanche play in Denver. I left Saturday morning at 530 and returned to Pittsburgh Sunday at 8. It was a spectacular weekend and in the past it was something I would have shared here. This thread has become way too much about just making a post to do so that I didnt even share it here and instead shared it in the NHL forum where people would actually care about it.

Yeah. That's why, as I posted after the thread was reopened, I elected to discontinue posting the OT top 25 for the time being. I started posting it just for fun and never meant for it to be taken seriously. I only even started keeping track of it because of my own obsession with keeping track of things. You should see the spreadsheets I have for my NCAA Football dyansty and Madden Franchise, they get more detailed every year.

Unfortunately, it seemed as if certain posters were taking it more seriously than it was ever meant to be taken and this was perhaps leading to the degeneration of the thread. Sure, there will always be times when the thread degenerates into utter lunacy for a few hours, but those times seemed to be coming with increasing frequency. Upon cnferring with Ryan, I found that not only did he agree with my assessment, but several other mods also agreed. Therefore, the OS top 25 is discontinued indefinitely and I will not resume posting it unless given the okay by a mod. Quite frankly, I was rather surprised that none of the mods had asked me to stop posting it much sooner.

I could never get into Seifeld. I watched about a seasons worth of the syndicated episodes and not many were that funny IMO. I don't know what it was, but the humor didn't grab me.

I'm almost to the end of Season 3 of White Collar and I will finally be able to stop until Season 4 is 'readily available' for me.

I just need to get through my biology test and a haircut so I can play The Show. It cracked me up when Pasta Padre tweeted some things about it not getting very good reviews when all I've seen are great things. I swear he'll say anything to ruffle feathers or be noticed. I'm not saying that the game is infallible like some people on here think, but I've seen nothing to the contrary this year.
