I get it daily for like the last 2 years. It used to just be when I drank cheap alcohol and chewing tobacco makes it much worse. I either take 4 tums a day, or end up taking some Zantac or Prilosec. One of those things I'm supposed to see a doctor for if it's "persistent"

I woke up in a pretty odd way this morning. This has happened 2 or 3 times over the last few months actually. So i'm in a deep sleep and suddenly I hear what sounds like a really loud doorbell. It was so loud and so realistic sounding that my skin was crawling and I nearly jumped out of bed.
There is no way that any sound like that can take place and even if that was the case I can't hear such a noise. It's not exactly the greatest way to get out of bed. "sigh" The last time this happened I "heard" gunshots aimed at me.
Oh well, least it got me to wake up early.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Off Topic 2012
They get a lot of stick, but honestly, nothing is preventing those people from saying "No thanks" and walking out the door. The prices those experts come up with are what they are going to get in the perfect world. Pawn shops wouldn't stay open very long if they paid retail, lol. If those people selling their items want full price, they can go out and find it. It's much easier for them to take the cash on the spot.
That show is seriously addicting, though. They always get me sucked in because they show at least 2 back to back.
I knew of the show but never really watched it. That was until this weekend when they had several episodes on and I just happened to have it on. I sat down and before I knew it about 3 hours had passed.
I think I could watch Pawn Stars and Sons of Guns all day everyday.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

I know said you don't gamble but reading this almost makes me want to to cry. Do me a favor, toss a penny in the penny slots on you way out the door.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

During the day I have motivation and focus to do things, but when I get home to actually do them and carry through, it all falls apart. Blah.

I do the same thing. At work I'll tell myself all the things I want to do when I get home. Then when I get home the couch just "speaks" to me.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

Mostly diet and alcohol is what affects this. Like I was saying, I drastically changed my diet and haven't had it for about 2 years or so. But I used to have it real bad, to the point where Prilosec, etc wasn't working at all. Same with the Tums and other antacids, didn't help at all.
It wasn't till I ultimately changed my diet and stopped drinking that it completely went away. Obviously most people aren't going to go that drastic, but mine was so bad I was suffering and it was leading towards possible permanent esophageal damage so I had to make changes.
I had it daily as well but not just 2 years like you, mine was persistent for about 8 or 9 years (daily!) up until 2 years ago.Comment

Oh don't worry. I do plan on spending a few dollars on a machine or two, but I don't take a grand to Vegas to gamble away. I'll spend a few bucks here and there.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. You mean actual chew like Red Man? That may be the case, but not with dip (in my case anyways) because I use Skoal and it doesn't affect my acid reflux at all.

Yeah, it looks like Seattle is rejecting us left and right.

Re: Off Topic 2012
Well it would be a very long list if I posted it here.
I'll just give you the gist of it... (some of it would sound extreme to some but for me, I had to). Many of the things here I obviously still eat or drink but not very often if at all.
citrus fruits & beverages, onions, garlic
tomato sauce & salsa, peppers
chili
chocolate anything
anything with mint or peppermint
anything that is spicy or spice heavy
anything really greasy or fried
soda/pop whatever you wanna call it (although this is one I cheat on often now that it's been a couple of years without it)
Those are just the immediate ones that come to mind right away, nothing that isn't spewed by most Doctors if you ask them. It is pretty common knowledge. It just really sucks to actually give it a go, but cutting off most of these things completely or only consuming them very seldom works and not having acid reflux after years & years is just such an amazing/liberating feeling.
Like I said, after going on two years now, I do cheat more often than before and I know I shouldn't but I'm not consuming any of this on anywhere near the level I was in years past.
A basic little chart if you want to give it a go that you can easily memorize.
