The first hipster thing I can say is that when everyone else was reading Harry Potter, I was reading A Storm of Swords, now all the HP fans are trying to tell me A Song of Ice and Fire is a great series.

If anything book/show/movie annoyed me right now, it'd be The Hunger Games at this point. At least you heard about Game of Thrones. Hunger Games comes out with a movie, and everyone goes crazy even though they've never mentioned it (most people I've seen haven't even acknowledged picking up one of the books) but now its everywhere.

Game of Thrones is awesome, but it really takes the first book to get acquainted with the world and characters. The show is pretty good, too.
A bit curious, but what exactly is GoT about (please no spoilers, just a general idea of the setting and such)? I haven't heard a ton about it content wise, but heard the title brought up a lot. Want to know if it'd be something I'd be interested in.

I would be beyond ecstatic with just a playoff birth. Championship or bust, my ***. Y'all are pissing me off.
I've lived through my fair share of Boston sports teams that had little to no chance of making the playoffs. Once your team tastes success, you want it even more the second time around. Being realistic about a crappy team doesn't make you a fairweather fan.

As far as making the second most money in the league. Not hard to do when you have the lowest payroll in MLB.

              Let's go through this.

I have four favorite teams. (I like the Blackhawks but their losses don't affect me, so I don't count them)

The Cubs, Bears, and Illini basketball and football haven't won a championship since I've been alive. The Cubs have gone to the playoffs a few times but only to be swept in the divisional round or Bartman'd. The Bears have been to the playoffs a few times, but lost in their only Super Bowl. Illini basketball teams have given me one heartbreaking NC loss and a bunch of underachieving seasons. Football has been relatively awful for the better part of my life, with one exception (Rose bowl loss).

The Bulls, the only team I am emotionally attached to that has won a championship, won last when I was 4-years old. I couldn't even dribble a basketball at that age. We also had a great run last year which ended with a loss to Miami's nWo. Again, though. No celebratable (not actually a word) championships.

So yeah. Stop your whinin'. Because my situation isn't even bad, but it's much worse than your 4 NCs or whatever in the past ~7 years.

1999. Which makes perfect sense that the last time the Bills made the playoffs was the last year Tom Brady wasn't in their division.

Pretty much imagine Skyrim without creature people. The series is basically set in a medieval styled period with knights, kings and queens, but also mixes in some other cultures as well. The plot is essentially an epic political thriller as alliances, "double agents", and twists are pretty much thrown down in a gauntlet like pace. I will say that it pretty much takes reading the first book to really get your head into the world. The second book has been blowing through the pages.

Just watch the first episode of GoT on HBO on Demand and you'll be hooked within 15 minutes. I haven't met a single person who hasn't liked it.

Season 2 is coming up in 9 days

I've read most of the first book, but personally I'm more of a TV guy. I'd rather get the shock from watching it rather that reading it. I did like the book though because it went into more detail about what the characters were thinking and such. I'll probably read the second book once the second season is over with.
