Maybe after reading all those good comments about Parks & Rec I would give it a try, I watched two episodes and I was like meh.

The first season, which is only 6 episodes, isn't that funny. But it gets better.

That's easily my favorite episode in the whole series. Also, after watching 17 episodes of Community in the last two days, I've decided that the show got so much better halfway through season one, and then it's continued to get better since. It's a shame more people don't watch it. Most creative show on TV, hands down.

Indeed. 17 episodes in is around the time it goes from "Pretty good" to "Holy hell I don't know what this is but it's freaking awesome".

Community rewards those with persistence.

I actually watched season one backwards starting with disk 4, and when I hit disk 2, the funny became much less. I hope theres another paintball episode this season. I also feel the bottle episode is sorely underrated.

It's tough, but I'd have to say Community > Parks and Rec. Mainly because they're both hilarious, but Community is the most creative and innovative show on TV. It's more of an ensemble cast too, with really no weakness.

I'd agree. Though this is essentially asking me to pick a favorite child.

They're totally different shows, though, so it's tough to compare. Parks & Rec is completely grounded in reality, and Community is, as Tendrils so accurately describes it, basically a live-action cartoon.

That's a good way to look at it. They're pretty hard to compare. I think the fact that they aren't grounded in reality at all is a good excuse to keep this cast in community college for 5+ years without offering an explanation. Granted, it needs to be picked up for a fourth first. That's one thing I had always wondered in the beginning. But once I realized that there was no logic or reality (even though since Abed's the only sane one, I feel like there is solid ground somewhere in there), nothing really had to make sense.
