So I heard on the news tonight that up to 100 students from my old high school are facing suspension and being banned from using school computers for the 3rd nine weeks. Supposedly they were using some internet program to bypass the schools internet filters and access blocked websites. Yeah, the school sucked when I was there and it still sucks.

We used to bypass our high school's filter all the time.

All you had to do was put a ? at the end of the URL.

I found a few websites that allowed me to bypass filters, when I was in school. I even got a hold of an administrator password and was able to access some files on the entire county school network.

We hid Age of Empires deep in a folder and were able to play it on every computer, without needing a bunch of disks. It did take a disk for every 3 players, if we played a LAN match.

Lol if they did that at my school there would have been about 5 people left. The band room had computers without a filter so everyone would go in there and browse the web.

We had kids at my high school that always were able to get into blocked sites. We even had some kid hack the school's network, unblock Youtube, and then make a rick-roll video the homepage on every computer.

We always used proxies to access blocked websites, and I remember my senior year my one friend found all of our passwords (which was pretty easy, our usernames were just graduation year-first initial-last name and our password was our student ID) and went to town on a bunch of people. He deleted all of this one kid's files, schoolwork included, and filled his account with game emulators and ROM's. Our assistant principal didn't think it was as funny as we did, unfortunately.

I seem to spend the majority of my time in the neighborhood, now.

I still read a lot of stuff in the sports forums (even if I rarely post), but most of the time I feel like the topics are the true definition of "beating a dead horse" + there are so many people that just can't be reasoned with. It's their opinion or nothing..

Don't get me wrong, I like a good debate... but most people don't even know how to do that without taking un necessary jabs at each other or derailing the entire thread.

From what I've seen here (and from the places I visit in OS), the Game Discussion thread on the NBA forums are good with good debates.
However, I understand what you mean. When I'm looking for local sports news on the net, it's unbearable to read through the comment section. If the news was about Nacional, Peñarol fans would go there to bash and troll the other team with stupid nonsense and the other way round.

So didn't you guys or your classmates do any work in school? I mean how did these people have so much free time during the school day to bypass filters and hack in networks and stuff? Of course computers and the internet are a lot more accessible in schools these days than they were when I graduated high school 13 years ago. Well, that and the fact that my district was really cheap and was probably several years behind as far as internet accessibility and related stuff for its students. Damn, I just made myself feel old
