Re: Off Topic 2012
I do not, sorry. A shut in like myself watches the games from the comfort of his own livingroom. The seats are better and whiskey is alway on the house.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Off Topic 2012
We had that "leave at 12:30" thing as seniors, too.
Except it was conditional. You had to have, like, a 3.0 GPA for it or something. A GPA that I was too lazy to achieve.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Off Topic 2012
The 2nd year after I left my highschool it became a tech school and issued Ipads to every student.
Ive never been so upset as when I heard about it.
I'm sure the kids that go there have become targets around brooklyn.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
We were on the block schedule, so I was able to leave around 11:30..
I had a Zoology class, followed by some sort of business class, that involved nothing but sitting on a computer and talking..
That's why I missed close to 40 days of my senior year. I would wake up late and say ****, I'm not driving for one damn class to sit and do nothing and then turn right around and leave.
I did come in late for a few of those second block classes, simply to keep from missing any more days. I came in hung over once and had to be excused to go to the bathroom to throw up, lol..
good times.
It's also worth mentioning I went to school drunk, on the first day of Sr year. Unfortunately, all we could get our hands on were smirnoff green apple wine coolers lmao. So we met up at 7:15 that morning and started drinking.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Seniors could leave as early as they wanted, as long as they'd have enough credits to graduate. Since it only took 21.5 credits to graduate, and we had 6 periods, that was gravy, especially if you were smart and took a High School elective in 8th grade.
Unfortunately, even though I went into my Senior Year only needing 2 credits to graduate (a semester each of Science, Social Studies, English, and Arts), I didn't have a car, and if you didn't leave the school, they made you take a class. If I had a car at the time, I totally would've gone to school from about 12:30-2:30 every day. Turned out okay, though. I loaded up on easy classes, and my senior year was my favorite year. I took a cooking class right before Lunch. That was awesome.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
Really? I could sleep in class and pull off a 3.0, but we never had the opportunity to leave early. But a lot of my friends took this woodshop class and my teacher was a *******. So we always said that we were going to go and buy supplies but just go to my friend's house to smoke pot and play super smash brothers. We never came back with the supplies too. He never even noticed.Comment

My graduating class got screwed over because we switched from 8 periods to 6 periods a semester and were only alloted 4 empty periods/class failures throughout our time in high school which was like 4 less than any other class around us at the time. Taking some classes in 8th grade was the only way to get more time to leave empty.
I think I read an article about your school in the past couple years. Strange.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2012
It was always K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 in almost all districts in this area. My high school went from 725-220, except for Thursdays where we got out at 145. They got rid of partial days for seniors several years before I got into high school, but I was able to make my schedule so I had a ton of free time. I took three newspaper classes, yearbook, a TA block, Spanish, AP World History, and AP English Lit. What an awesome year.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Off Topic 2012
I should clarify that I didn't bother getting my license until 18, so often times I was forced to kill time on campus until getting picked up around 3. That was if my buddies weren't doing anything after school. We almost always were though, so it wasnt always an issue.Comment

We went from 7:20 to 1:47 in HS.
Senior year you could leave during your study periods (I had two back to back in 5th and 6th period) so I got to leave for a two hour lunch break every day and on Tuesdays I only went to school from 720 until 1030. It was awesome.Comment

Elementary: K-5
Middle: 6-8
High: 9-12
For high-school, home room bell rang at 8:00 and the tardy bell rang at 8:05 I believe. At 8:15 every Friday we would watch Channel One News and our own "news" program that the photojournalism classes put together. I'm not sure if they still do the student news program, but it was fun. We got out at 2:45, but I managed to get early release for work which meant I got out at 1PM every other day.

Is it me or is it kind of sad if somebody says that high school was the best time of their life? Hearing everyone say HS was alright or so so made me realize no-one ever boasts about how great HS was.
I went to an all dudes school so it was meh. Not as bad as people think. The school might as well have been a 3 story mens lockerroom.
Living on campus versus being a commuter could play a factor. I lived in a dorm my freshman year and it was the funnest year of college for me. I commuted every year after that.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: Off Topic 2012
I'm on the extreme end, but there is absolutely no one from High School I talk to, or communicate with anymore. Not classmates, not teachers. The funny thing is I only graduated 5 years ago.
I've actually ran into a few people I went with high school in Stores, looked at them and they didn't recognize me.Minnesota Vikings
