Re: OS or the Social Network
OS any day. Only reason I have a Facebook still is to coordinate plans and such in the group with some people I call friends and to look at female albums if necessary.
Twitter is a stream of consciousness and a breaking news source.Comment

Re: OS or the Social Network
I know I may not post a lot but OS has saved me plenty of times on sliders, rosters, game making decisions, latest pro sports news...and for some odd reason its hella easy to find info on anything here. I cant get that on FB. Not even amongst my close friends since we dont share all the same interest. I prefer to kick it with them for the most part anyway. As far as social networking sites, its turned into a mess. Its nice for some laughs and seeing your peeps go through gossip but aint nothing like communicating with like minded folks.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: OS or the Social Network
I use OS for info and opinions on sports, sports games, and all games in general. I use it to interact with people who know what they are talking about.
I use Facebook to talk to my friends and people I know that I don't see everyday. These people don't play the Show and do not own PS3s.
I go on Twitter occasionally to see what the celebs are saying. But since the celebs post equally as much on Facebook as they do on Twitter, I really don't touch Twitter.Last edited by sydrogerdavid; 01-10-2012, 12:13 AM.Comment

Re: OS or the Social Network
I don't have FB or Twitter. I'm very slightly considering Twitter for sports updates, but people post those here or on other sites anyway, so there's really no need.
I still have YIM so a few friends there can message me, and I've kept the same email so if friends/family need to get ahold of me there's always that avenue.
I love OS. I'm enthralled by the rosters/sliders knowledge that floats around here. Love the intelligent discussions and of course the humorous side too. I find myself wanting to comment a lot only to find someone else has already illustrated my point beautifully later in the thread.
I tried Myspace a long time ago and it was ugly. I realized I didn't really have any friends and was only getting messages from ex gf's. The upside though was the music source, but since they've changed that around I just use Youtube to search music now.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: OS or the Social Network
For me, Facebook is pretty much just for friends and family. Basically people I've met and know personally. Even then, I tend to keep my friends list rather condensed to people I actually want to stay in touch with. My phone is pretty much for emergency purposes only, and doesn't have texting, so it's fairly useless for keeping in touch with some people.
I use Twitter primarily for people I haven't met personally, as well as quick news updates. Of the people I'm following, I've met maybe 8 of them, and 6 of them are athletes (Matt Kenseth, Ross Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Mick Foley, and Donald Driver). The other two are people are people I went to high school with who don't have Facebook.
I use OS more for the Neighborhood and football discussions.Comment

Re: OS or the Social Network
OS is my most visited site and where I do the most posting. It's the only message board that I post on anymore. I am active in the Madden, NCAA Football and The Show forums, and dabble a bit in Dynasty HQ when I have the itch to write. I've wrote a few solid dynasties over there and enjoy it. I am active in the different sports forums, but I do find that things can get heated and words get twisted at times so I am kind of souring on posting too much in the NFL and MLB forum. Great, knowledgeable discussion goes on over there, but I think I need to spend some more time in the Neighborhood.
Facebook... I still use quite a bit. I am not real active on there, but log on once or twice a day and read. Mainly, it's on Sunday's and it's about football. I do like to keep up with some friends... You know, those high school friends that you used to be tight with, but time and/or distance has got in the way and you lose touch with - I just like seeing how people are doing that I used to be close with.
To a small extent, I also use Facebook as a work tool. I am 30, have a family, and have put my crazier (never all that crazy anyway) days behind me, so I'm not posting drunken pictures of me at a bar. It's a bit of a networking/political thing when I have my Captain or Lieutenant as one of my friends and I can converse with them over that... It's just another avenue in which they can at least know my name and see that I'm a responsible adult who cares about his family and career. I actually wrote a note on Facebook and my Captain read it, and the next week he was calling me in to his office asking me if I wanted to be the Editor of a newsletter that we're running on one of our Security teams... I asked him how he knew I could head something like that up and he told me that he read my stuff on Facebook and was impressed (it was an article about the NFL). So, that opened my eyes to that.Comment

Re: OS or the Social Network
OS - Sports, video games, entertainment, and the OS Neighborhood. I get so much news from here. I love the discussions in the sports forums. It's really shown me every side of every issue/topic. Also, you can post a question and get a good answer, sometimes from someone working in that field. Sometimes I refer to OS as "my people" when my girlfriend has a question or something, and I'm like, "I'll ask my people about it and get back to you." Funny.
Facebook - Keeping up with friends. I try to limit my friends list to people I actually care about. I'm guilty of posting music lyrics as status updates, but that's because I live through my music and it's a way of showing people that. I like to share my allegiances to my sports teams on there as well. Conversations are generally kept to being humorous, it's tough to have an intelligent conversation with a lot of people. Most everyone is just a casual fan. When I get into something, I go headfirst and go all out. I check my newsfeed and comment accordingly. It's extremely rare that I actually go to someone else's profile.
Twitter - Created it for a charity event and have kept it up as a place where I just Tweet whatever's on my mind ... usually while at work. It really is a glorified status update, but I tend to put more then just song lyrics here. I'm following 20 something and being followed by 20 something. I don't really look at other Twitter's.
They all serve different functions, I feel.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Twitter is bar-none the best and fastest way to get personalized news that you want. I started it this year to follow some fantasy football guys. Won 1500 in my league.
