Do they have you on the Range Of Motion machine yet?..It moves your knee back and forth to prevent scar tissue while you are laying in your bed recovering..

Don't let it get you down 24.

I partially tore my PCL & MCL late last summer. I slimmed down a lil and started playing closer attention to my body. It took a while but I can play pain free now. I still wear a brace but I'm really targeting my legs to get them stronger.

          Goold luck with the recovery.

At least you are "laid up" while the NCAA tournament is on.

I had knee surgery a while back and the first few phys therapy appointments are the worst because the scar tissue gets broken up. (like someone mentioned earlier). I played pickup and in leagues for a several years after. Now that I've gotten a little older and gotten married I've pretty much "retired" from basketball and focused on playing golf. The high impact stuff is not good for my hips and knees and my doctor told me when I was in college to stop those type of activities. I didn't listen then, but now that I'm over 35 I'm starting to think he probably knew what he was talking about.

            Good luck my man.

              Re: CRAP CRAP CRAP

Just scheduled a doctor's appointment to get my knee checked out... I guess he'll give me his initial opinion, then it'll be specialist time and X-rays and all that good stuff. Haven't been to a doctor in... years. And I've let this knee situation linger for a couple years too.

I'm actually pretty curious to see what exactly is wrong with my knee. On one hand, I'm relieved that I won't have to worry about it anymore, once it's all fixed up. On the other hand, I've never had any real medical work done like this. Never had a surgery. Don't really know what to expect. I'm actually mostly concerned about the recovery time and how exactly I'm going to be able to afford missing work or school... but if I don't get this done now, I may never be able to.

Hope everything goes well man, I really do.

On my follow up visit the doc really broke down the number I did on my knee....I was pretty much retired anyway, but he told me even a pro athlete would have to hang em up if they what I did to my knee. It was worse than they originally thought once they got in there....Crazy.

Started with a lot of quad stuff....knee marching, leg raises, quad clenches, short arcs...did this hardcore since surgery to rebuild my quad muscle and hammy....since they took some of it to repair my ACL...

Once my legs got closer and closer to measuring the same, I started light jogging and some weight training....light lifting and very light leg presses...

Started running a little harder....started jumping again...(I'm a two foot jumper now)....building muscle memory by doing to some basketball type movements....

                      Did this stuff daily...

Started taking glocusamine, don't know if this helped or if it was a placebo, but my doctor says it works for every 1/3 people...and it seemed I help me a lot....

This is awesome news, sir. Coming up on 30 years old, yes? You've still got a lot of good athletic years left on those legs. Will basketball be a possibility?

                          Oh yeah.

Pondering joining a league too...I have my "Bynum Brace" and have been pretty tweak free through a few test runs,,,well see what happens...

The injury has probably helped my game not being so reliant on athleticism...lol

Mostly unrelated sidenote: my former teammate just tore both of his patella tendons today when he went up to dunk. That's right, double knee surgery. Crazy.
