Re: Keep us in your thoughts
Just saw this Dookie, just said a prayer for the little handsome fellow. Keep us posted and prayers will no doubt continue from me.We got a diagnosis
He has an annular pancreas. It's extra pancreatic tissue that is wrapped around his intestines
It's nothing cancerous. It's just something some babies are born with. Apparently it causes food to back up and not digest properly.
They may have to do surgery.
Thanks everyone. I'll keep y'all posted. The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Just an update on Branson - they got a feeding tube in him today to "beef" him up, he's going to have an MRI done tomorrow. They think because of the food backing up he might have gallstones. Dr wants to make sure so he can take care of everything at once. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, just not sure what time yet.Comment

Wow, I could have swore I updated this post. Sorry about that.
Branson went into surgery like I was saying, but once they go in there he didn't have what they thought, which was an annular pancreas. It was a big blow at first because for a week we knew what the issue was, how they were going to fix it and then boom, that wasn't the problem.
So They did biopsies and found out he has a tumor on his pancreas, which is pushing everything together. It's the cause for the blocked intestines, and it's also has caused him trouble with his liver.
We started a chemo type medication last Friday and they also put a tube through his liver into the gallbladder which is going to drain his bile because his bile ducts were blocked.
Every since they put the drain in last Friday he has been a new baby, almost back to his normal self. He went from crying and fussing 24/7 and not sleeping, to playing, laughing, and sleeping through most of the night. I guess his liver problems were really causing him some discomfort or pain.
We still have a few obstacles to climb. They are going to surgically put a feeding tube in on Monday. Three different doctors tried to place one through his nose last week and none were successful. They would get to to the blocked area and tube would pretty much back up.
So we are looking at getting the feeding tube placed on Monday and if everything goes well they said maybe we could go home by Easter, but I'm thinking the week after.
Sorry for not updating you guys. Thanks again for all the well wishes.Comment

Re: Keep us in your thoughts
I just saw this post and wanted to see how everything is going.
My second child had a pretty major surgery on his skull when he was 4 months old so I know what you are going through as a father.
Hang in there, keep the faith, and before you know it this whole thing will just be a bad memory. My son, Frankie, turned 3 last week. It won't be long before your little guy is all better. If a loved one is expecting a baby or just had one, please read about Craniosynostosis. It is a common birth defect that can sometimes be overlooked by doctors.

Another update - Branson had surgery to place his feeding tube on Monday, it was a rough few days after, but he's been in a great mood the last few days, considering he has tubes coming out of his side.
They are increasing his feeds every 8 hours by 5 ml (we are at 15 right now) they want is to get up to 38 ml an hour, once we get there and Branson's body can tolerate it, we should be able to go home. They said possibly by early next week.
