If anything cooking has always seemed like something men SHOULD be good at.
Do you feel that if a guy knows how to cook that it makes him less "manly"?

Now that I think about it, my cooking is what started my new whatever-ship. For a fraternity event, we had an auction and I auctioned off being able to enjoy French toast cooked by myself and this girl that I'm seeing now ended up winning the auction and that's how we met.NFL: Bills

Actually sometimes I think about it but most of the time I think it's a stupid stereotype.
Besides I only know how to cook like 5 things. lolWhy did I move here? I guess it was the weather.Comment

Re: Do you feel that if a guy knows how to cook that it makes him less "manly"?
As a guy here (yes, I am indeed a guy), I have to say it's kind of a funny stereotype.
I cook better than the majority of people I know, and while I occasionally enjoy cooking, sometimes I kind of get forced into it (unfortunately).
To the topic though, I wouldn't say it makes us less manly, just because we learned a skill that we aren't "supposed" to. I once had a person (apparently he wasn't from around there) say I was meek, and too weak of a guy to be a real man. Then his friend (someone who WAS from there) joked about how I had recently placed in the top 10 at a state race. (I lived in Maine at the time)
Needless to say, he didn't say I wasn't a man after that. He kind of just apologized and had some laughs.
Again, it is a rather silly stereotype.-the least famous person you've never heard of.Comment

I wish I knew how to cook. About all I'm good at doing is making spaghetti. Haha. My wife really wants me to learn how to cook.
I make up for it by being a damn good house cleaner. lol.Comment

Now this, is it manly or not to be good at house cleaning?“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Do you feel that if a guy knows how to cook that it makes him less "manly"?
I just spent 30 dollars(10 extra on snacks) on 3 meals that will last 4 days(including yesterday). If I would have bought fast food for each day, it wouldve have been about 50 dollars. So, I glad I did that. The 3 meals it self came up to 24 dollars. I had to get extra stuff for the house. But, that saved me almost 25 dollars, plus I dont have to make any extra stops.Comment

I dont know, It counts on the severity of it.
I like to keep a clean house. Heck every time I go over my gmoms, I clean some of her house without even thinking about it because she cant really do it. I get it from my dad. But, I am not like he is when it comes to cleaning. I dont think he has OCD, but he wants every thing perfect. He would yell at me, if I didnt see a small piece of lint on the floor or clean the mirror or check to see if anything is out of order. But, I didnt really pay attention when he scolded me. I would just make sure the house was clean before he got home.
Unless my nieces are over, my place is always clean .Comment

Um, **** no.
And I say this as I go to put a Hungry-Man dinner in the oven. I WISH I knew how to cook, even if it meant I was somehow "less manly".Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

I guess if I were to say anything, it's to just find what does what, and how certain combos taste. You'll probably make a few disasters, but when you find a dish that works, you feel satisfaction.
Sort of like how when I started cooking, my chicken stir-fry was a tad on the watery side. Now I know to cook it for a different length, and it tastes a lot drier and more full of flavor.

I've never heard of this stereotype either, but figured I'd chime in since I'm also a chef.
I love my job and although I don't have to cook anymore (you send the food to me and I determine if it's good enough to go to the customer), I still like to, and I don't care if that makes me less manly.Comment

Re: Do you feel that if a guy knows how to cook that it makes him less "manly"?
Most women I've encountered think it's cool that I know how to cook.
I don't have my own place, so It's hard to make full use of it on a date, but the fact that I CAN cook seems to have some effect.
I don't see how it would be considered un manly, because everyone needs to learn how to cook, no matter how much **** they have to burn in the process....
I try to find new recipes and learn new stuff. I recently learned how to cook home made Mexican cornbread, which compliments vegetable soup nicely..
The girl I'm dating now can't cook at all... doesn't make her any less of a woman, in my eyes... just means she can't cook (even though I always say it's great)
