Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Just a random video I saw online weeks ago which has stuck out to me.
Cant seem to find it anymore, maybe someone else has seen it too?
For all the negative things posted online, and over the top things parents do with posting videos of their kids, a popular one I saw(not on purpose, but glad I did) was someone parents filming the reaction to bringing their son (was probably 7 or something) to their new house after having lived in a condo his whole life. He's never lived in a place with stairs before, and I dont know if he ever had his own bedroom, but his reaction when he saw that house, saw stairs, saw his own bedroom, was enough to warm your heart.
Having a young family member who visits me every so often, who also lives in a condo, and seeing how much they love going up and down the stairs, and having their own spot where they can play, it made that video above so relatable, and makes you realize how much the little things can mean to kids.
The internet can have nice things too...sometimes.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
successfully squelching a sneeze in a public place
I can sense it, the sneeze is about to happen, I'm wiggling my nose, I'm trying new breathing tactics, I have like a 10% chance of fighting this off, so do I remove the mask now and just let it fly into my elbow? or do I try and win a nearly unwinnable fight...
what if I try and fight it, and it gets ugly? I might blow snot all over my mask, I might try and stifle and make weird noises as i fail, everyone looks at me!
so you take the risk, against all odds, and you actually fight off the sneeze, the urge actually went away, you won!Last edited by l3ulvl; 02-19-2021, 02:44 AM.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
I can hold sneezes, but I can't prevent it from happening if you know what I mean.
Only I heard that holding sneezes is bad for you. Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Moral of these stories, doing anything in public is bad.
I once drank something which caused me to hiccup immediately after drinking it (not for long, just for a second or two afterwards). Only to get called out on my "rude/gross manners". As if I could control hiccups....
Hiccups and sneezing, do people really think its controllable? I can understand certain gassy reactions (usually those you can hold in), but something as natural as hiccups or sneezing being "frown upon" is just stupid.Last edited by Majingir; 02-22-2021, 05:22 PM.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Hiccups I rarely get and have never tried to hold back, but I try not to sneeze in public (because you never know what’s going to go flying, haha) so I’ve gotten pretty good at calming those down when I feel one coming on. They’re pretty controllable, though I don’t know what consequences there are to it, if any.
Where are we on yawns? Do people hold those back or just go with it?Comment

you're being sincere? you were legitimately called "rude" for hiccuping?Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
LOL....unbelievable. The only possible explanation I can think of is that person that called you rude has never had the hiccups in their life before. That's the only thing that makes sense. Otherwise....that person should be drug out into the street and pilloried.Comment
