Re: What's your "thing" at home

    I'd say i'm the brewmeister.

Whenever i throw a party at my place (once a month on average) i like to provide all of the alcohol for the everning. I don't believe in the BYOB situation. Unless you don't like what i have to offer and you insist on bringing your own. I have no problem with that.

If i invite people over i never expect them to go buy anything to come and hang out.

As funny as this sounds, it gives me peace knowing I accomplished it and it looks good. I can't go long without mowing, etc or else it drives me nuts. My wife, on the other hand, has the same issues with the bathrooms. We both have "our things."

Besides the yard though, I can't go to sleep knowing there are dirty dishes in the sink... I don't think I have OCD since those are the only two things that I have to take care of around the house.

So I ask.... What is your "thing" at home that you must do?
Mine is keeping things clean when I'm home. I'm not a neat freak but it feels better when things are picked up.

I'd also say yard work... Like you, I'm not the best landscaper around, but I take great pride in mowing the lawn and edging.

There's nothing better than mowing the lawn and then drinking a couple of beers afterward to admire it while having a baseball game on in the background.

Oh, and I've never shied away from changing my son's diaper, but now that the wife is pregnant again, and her sense of smell has heightened, my 'thing' has also become changing every dirty diaper when I am home.

Not that I mind, but that's one thing that I've done on a ridiculously consistent basis over the past four months.

            What a shock....

            I'm "news/sports/politics" guy.

As far as doing actual things? Hm. I help my little brother and sister with their homework, I guess. Everyone around my house is pretty self-sufficient.

Definitely the computer guy as it's my profession (although I'm not hands on anymore). This is a curse IMO. I have family members call all the time with all of their computer questions. Computers are the last thing I want to deal with when I get home from work.

I'm also the electronic guy. This, I enjoy. I love home theaters and messing around with them.

I absolutely love being outside so I thoroughly enjoy yard work and maintaining my yard. I'll spend 7-8 hours outside a day on the weekend on yard work.

I think, for the most part, most of us can be considered the tech/electronic guy.

I know a good deal about computers, as opposed to the 'average' person.

I'm also the 'put things together' guy. Bought something new that needs to be put together? That's me!

                Also, the weather guy.

I will never understand ironing the clothes of a 4yr old who is just going to roll around in the dirt 5 minutes into putting those clothes on. I especially don't understand it when one complains about not having any time...

Computer/tech guy. Although I really don't know a whole lot, just slightly more than the rest of my family.

Also I'm the mechanic. I know my way around four wheelers and motorcycles pretty well, and i know just enough about cars to fix or at least diagnose basic problems.

I can't stand when people want to entertain, but then basically ask for a "cover charge" to help with the food. When I get my home, just bring yourself and let's have a good time. I'll take care of everything. I have a cousin in law who pretty much charges us when we come. Needless to say, my wife and I don't go there anymore.

Oh yeah, I'm also "beer man" and "hookah man".

If I'm fortunate enough to have a house and money to do so, I would always have buddies over to hang out. None of that "oh, just pitch in" stuff. If you wanna bring your own stuff that's cool, but no need to pay man!
