Play for sure, you won't regret it. Teammates/friends/girls/etc is worth it.

Go visit friends at big schools in the spring after the season is over. Party in the spring for a month. D3 doesn't have the demanding schedule like higher divisions and basketball isn't hell on your body like football (unless your a big man/have knee problems) so you'll have some time to have fun. Worst comes to worst you quit after your freshman year but at least you tried it and won't have any regrets.

Once you've graduated at 22 you can spend your mid 20's partying/going out having a good time. Trust me, life is NOT over after college. I know plenty of people that enjoyed their first four years after college in Boston or NYC more than their four years in college.

I play d3 football and really like it. You can go d3 and still go to a big school and have a good college experience.

I go to a school that's bigger than a lot of D1 schools, I'm able to pledge a fraternity, and I'm enrolled in a top ten business program.

You don't have to give up fun in college just because you attend a rigorous academic school and play a sport. During season most weeks I could still go out on Saturdays and most weekends I can get out a couple of nights (actually three nights most of this semester but that's about to have an abrupt ending) and almost every weekend I can go out one night. In fact, most people I know go out on weekends, have fun, and still excel in school.

It's probably not worth it if you don't love your sport because there isn't any glamour, but if you really love your sport then I would encourage you to take advantage of whatever opportunities are presented to you. Just make sure you understand that you can play sports, work hard in school, and still have a great time partying come Friday.
