I guess I get it, but I would never do it, especially as an older guy. When we were little kids playing CYO basketball we used to make our own jerseys and I loved putting names on the back and designing it. I'm just a teams only guy I guess.

In high school I loved wearing jersey's. I'd wear them pretty much every day of the week if I could. I haven't bought one myself in probably 15 years now. I don't really go anywhere that I deem it appropriate to wear a jersey to.Last edited by jeremym480; 04-28-2012, 01:49 AM.My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

I do wear a Gamecocks jersey on game day sometimes. Otherwise, it's 1 of the many USC polos.Comment

I have no problem with it at all. When I go to Blackhawks games there are old people rocking their Toews and Kane jerseys."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Yeah I wore mine mostly when I was a kid, when I was in grade school and junior high I loved wearing jerseys. Wore my Shawn Kemp jersey the most, Michael Jordan black alternate, white Scottie Pippen, then had a bunch of random football jerseys, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Deion Sanders, Jerry Rice.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I think it's fine.
My only reason for not buying any jerseys with player's names on the back is because of what someone else already mentioned - players are moving all of the time. I bought a Seahawks jersey of John Carlson and a year later, he's gone.
My next Seahawks jersey will be authentic, so I'll pay for it. But then, I'll just get the #12 jersey with my name stitched on the back.
I still love rocking my M's jersey with "Griffey" on the back, though. I'll probably wear that thing until I'm 85.Comment

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
This is why I don't buy pro jerseys at all anymore. It's just not worth it. The stitched ones are the worst, because you have to go the extra mile just to take care of the damn things, otherwise they end up with ugly and unnecessary stains that'll never come off. Of course, on the other hand, you have the replicas which, if you don't take good enough care of those, the numbers will start to crack and fade. It's a no win situation either way.
I do however have 2 replica college jerseys. One is a red Nike Stanford home jersey (Andrew Luck's #12. It was cheap and on sale at Champs last year around holiday time) and the other is a red Nike Fresno State home jersey that I got at halftime of my first Fresno State game that I went to in 2007. It can now be considered a "throwback" because Fresno State just changed their uniforms last year, to something that I think isn't as good, but that's just me.
I rarely wear these. I'll wear them to a game, but that's about it, just so I'll at least have something to wear to the stadium.
And to answer the topic question, I don't really mind it so much. If there is a player you like, go ahead and buy a jersey of that player. People should be able to wear whatever they want without being judged by some judgmental dbag.Comment

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I used to wear my Favre jersey every Sunday. But Jerseys are just so expensive, I haven't bought another Jersey since he retired. I do wear player shirts though, I have Clay Matthews and Kevin Durant player shirts. I really don't see anything wrong with wearing a shirt of your favorite player, I mean you watch them, why not support them.Comment

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I honestly don't see a problem with wearing a jersey. I do all the time when its game day, going to the game or at work when its where your team day.
I'm supporting my team and the players on it. It sucks when you get a jersey and the player ends up moving so I pretty much only get a jersey if I feel that player will be with us for a long time or they are a team legend like Steve Nash.Comment

The best way around the fear of a player getting traded/released/whatever when buying a jersey? Throwbacks.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I wear my shirsey's just like any other shirt whenever I feel like it.
I generally had a rule with my football jersey's, I wear one on gameday(Brees, maybe Graham now) then my other one the day after if they won(Usually Colston)Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
Personally I don't do it. I am fortunate to still play competitive sports at the age of 27 so I choose to wear my own jersey.
I don't see any issue with wearing jerseys. The only issue I have is the people who wear Packers jersey to a Bears/Vikings game. Why even go?SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: How do you feel about wearing players names on your back?
I used to wear jerseys everywhere fast forward a little over 10 years and I'll only wear my jerseys to games or when I go out to watch the game somewhere. I have a Jay Bruce shiresy and wear that all the time, I'm not a Reds fan at all just liked Bruce when he played in Louisville so i figured I'd buy the shiresy. I can see myself buying some football shiresys this year. I will wear my soccer jerseys anytime though, it's kinda weird.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
