I have no issues with anyone who wears a jersey, no matter what their age. You're showing support for your favorite team.

To be honest, the only time I have an issue with people wearing a jersey is whenever said person doesn't wear the jersey until the team starts winning some games (i.e. Pirates). That isn't something that just pertains to jerseys either, that's sports wear period.

I wear team-related stuff often. Not just jerseys, but shirts or hats, etc.

On gamedays, after a win, after a loss, when a big trade is made, when a big signing is made, etc.

Same here...I always pull out Cardinals or Brewers gear for the winter meetings.

And no, people don't always buy jerseys necessarily because of the name on the back. They buy jerseys because of teams they support and the player they choose to be on the back might be one of their favorite players on their team, or the one that has the number they like, etc.

Of course, there are people who are strict player-supporters though. And I've bought a Dirk jersey and Pujols shirt because I love both players. For the most part though, it's about the team.
Exactly. I buy jerseys mostly for the team, not that player (the exceptions probably my Chipper Jones jersey, which is for both, and a Jerry Rice Raiders jersey I bought for $5 at Value Village and almost never wear). I have a Reggie Williams Jaguars jersey. Do you think I give two craps about Reggie Williams? Not even a little. But I'm a Jags fan, so I bought it.

I'd never go out to eat or go shopping or what have you on a Tuesday wearing a Colts jersey. I only wear my jerseys when my team is playing that day. None of my jerseys get worn in the off season of any sport. Now, I do wear shirts and sweatshirts and things of that nature whenever. But wearing an actual jersey casually is kind of weird to me. I don't know.
If someone doesn't want to wear gear out of season, I get that. I tend to now wear baseball hats as much in the winter, and I rarely wear my Oregon or Jags hats in the spring or summer. But I'll totally throw on a football jersey on Wednesday in October to run to Best Buy or something. It's no different than wearing a team's sweatshirt on a Wednesday. I'm a fan every day, not just on gameday.

Depends on what you mean by going out. I'm not going to wear a jersey out at night to bars, or on a date or anything, but I see nothing wrong wearing one to class or while you're running errands or whatnot.

I have a ton of team-related clothing, as well. I think I have 6 Cubs shirts, a ton of Bama clothing, and 3 or 4 Panthers shirts that I'll wear around all of the time. I save my jerseys for actual gameday.

See, the good thing about rooting for teams like the Braves and Texans is that you have stuff that is red, white, and blue. Since I'm getting fatter and my American flag shirt doesn't fit me as well anymore, I can just wear Braves/Texans stuff for today too, lol.

It's been interesting seeing all the responses. I've gathered the majority of OSer's are cool with wearing players names on their back, and that's fine.

Going back a few pages, wearing player specific shoes or supporting Apple products is not even close to the same thing, I just had to get that off my chest.

Just for the record, I'm not judging anyone on here, but I'm not on my high horse on this, it's just my personal feeling now. Good debate though...

It iritates me when people wear their team's gear when their team isn't playing. Cub fans wearing their jerseys in St. Louis when the Mets are in town, just stupid. Or wearing the wrong sport jerseys, like that guy on the not top 10 wearing a red Jordan jersey to the Cubs game or people wearing Blues gear to the Cardinal game.

I agree with that. I'm not going to a Mariners/Angels game wearing a Braves hat. I'll accept it for All-Star games or the Super Bowl, but that's it.

Don't really see the big deal there... I'm a fan of football, I'd wear a Chiefs jersey to any game between any two teams without a second thought.

Many of the dudes that give me crap for wearing jerseys and t-shirt jerseys are the same ones rocking Ed Hardy, Tapout, and Affliction shirts with their tribal armband tattoos.

I don't have any of those brands of shirts, but I admit I'm a big fan of this Chan Sung Jung shirt:

I would get it, but I honestly don't know where I would wear it to.
