    Question: Are gamers homebodies?

I game a lot cause I luv to, plus most of my friends are married so I fly solo. Not hitched here, but curious if others are there like me? I am game TON and find myself home a lot, watching funds, etc. and of course enjoy my man cave. Thanks to anyone who replies.

    Just was curious.

    Re: Question: Are gamers homebodies?

    I think it depends.

The dynamic of video games has changed so much over the years. Now, most everyone plays some sort of video game, even if it's played on a cell phone.

I call myself a gamer, but I really don't play a bunch of games anymore. I usually stick to my one main shooter (BF3) and then rotate in sports games and the occasional big name game like Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, etc. I still put in the time, but play less games.

I work 40+ hours each week and I get out on weekends. So, I wouldn't really call myself a homebody. I still enjoy being out of the house, but at the same time, I can appreciate a good lazy day of playing my PS3 and watching Netflix... + I still find the time to get in the gym 3-5 days each week.

Think about all of the professional sports players who game too. They're always on the road and out and about.

Thank you AUChase for your reply. Curious, guess it's comforting at times knowing you aren't the only one.

Nah, there are plenty of people who would rather spend time at home that aren't even gamers. I know several people like that.

It's your time to spend how you want.

I am active as well as AUChase put it, and work a lot, and prefer to unwind w/ video game then a TV Show/Movie. There is more and more content to be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home so it isn't hard to want to spend more time at home than out where beers are $6.00/each and two people going to the movies costs a small fortune lol.

I don't game as much now, but I'm still a homebody (as is my Fiancee)...

After a long day we just enjoy relaxing at home....We go out and do things as well, but we enjoy being at home.

            Nothing wrong with that IMO!

I'm a homebody but my girl wouldn't want me gaming while she's right there next to me.

I wish sometimes I could game in peace or she would game with me but other things need attention so the gaming gets put aside when we're together.

                  Re: Question: Are gamers homebodies?

I work about 55 hours a week so I game when I can, I can usually get in a few hours during the week. Honestly though, it all depends how I feel. Some times I can go weeks at a time without picking up a controller, other times I play so long I add a few inches to my beard.

To answer to question, I would say no. Most gamers I know or meet are outgoing people who play when they have nothing else to do.

                    Lol I hear ya!

I don't get as much gaming time as I'd like, because when we're together we'll watch tv or do other things we're both into. It's not bad by any means, but will be nice when we can get a house with a crafting room so we'll each have more space/ability to do our hobbies.

She even learned how to turn on the PS3. Good thing right?

Nooo...she learned how to use it to navigate straight to Netflix.

The amount of time we spend on Netflix...we could've tore through some co-op games together.

My wife and I are both homebodies, in the sense that we both like to hang out at home during the week. We LOVE to travel, but we can't afford more than 1 or 2 significant trips a year, with some mini-runs out of state for a weekend here or there to visit the kids.

We are both gamers, though as Chase said, we focus on fewer games. I love to unwind with games vs TV much of the time as well, but I love movies too.

And if I worked out half as much as Chase does, I'd be 20 lbs lighter.

Although my wife doesn't mind my video game playing, I am reluctant to take time away from her and our daughter. When I do have time since I'm back to working normal hours again, I usually play late at night when everyone is asleep and the house is quiet.

Oh the days of playing Tecmo Super Bowl all day everyday....

I'm a homebody by default because my funds dont allow me to kick it like days of old. I work 40 a week and game when I can but for the most part, I'd rather sit in and play games than go out and blow money. As for my girl, I rubbed off on her. She gets it in with the Sims 3 or something when I'm in my zone.

Let me just say this... Last Friday I got home from work around 5:20 and didn't leave me house again until 7:45 Monday morning. All I did was watch TV and play video games all weekend.

                              It. Was. Awesome.

Ten years ago I never would had done that. However, I think it's more a matter of age and there not being much to do around here than me being a gamer.
