    Re: Question: Are gamers homebodies?

I work 45 to 50 hours a week. When I get home from work I really don't want to do much else other than kick back relax with a drink and play some games.

Now on the weekends I am busy as hell, fishing, hunting, remodeling the house, going out to places such as Buffalo wings, hooters, etc to watch the UFC fights.

So I wouldn't call myself a homebody since I am so busy my time flies. I just choose to relax and unwind by playing some games.

Now if you did nothing but come home and stay on the console Mon-Mon then yea you might need to get out and socialize some. I think there is a balance that needs to be there.

      Re: Question: Are gamers homebodies?

I prefer to be home, but like to go out once a week or so. I work out a few or else I would be home every week night.

With commuting being a factor, I'm up 6:45 and don't get home 'till 6:45-7. For that reason alone, if not for working out, I would be home on week nights.

Even Friday night I find myself not wanting to do much, but will go see the gf. I think once I'm married I will be the ultimate of homebodies.

BTW, I don't game as much as I used to, so it has nothing to do with gaming.

        Re: Question: Are gamers homebodies?

I am by no means a homebody, but it's funny how so many think I am. What I am is a man of routine. I always have been and it really helps now that I stay home with our 4 boys. If I don't stick to it I won't have ways of getting to the gym, do shopping, spending time with my wife and then get in some gaming.

I get out on special occasions to maybe see a concert, movie etc. My wife and I do things for ourselves in terms of being away from the kids.

While I'm not a homebody, I do remember when my first son was born and my wife took him down to FL to see her mom and dad. I broke the rules one night, went to BK and got a double whopper with cheese, came home and gamed the night away. Sometimes I think about doing that again, just passing out in front of the TV and waking up when I wake up.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

          It. Was. Awesome.

Ten years ago I never would had done that. However, I think it's more a matter of age and there not being much to do around here than me being a gamer.

          This is pretty much me.

I hit the gym and go to the movies some, but more and more I'm finding a nice quiet weekend at home beats being out.

I guess I am. I just enjoy being by myself though is all. It really has nothing to do with gaming, I just like quiet time alone. I go out with friends at least 2 or 3 times a week, but other than that I really just lay around watching tv, playing xbox, tinkering with my fourwheelers, hunting, fishing, watching sports, and other stuff like that. I wouldn't say the fact I'm a gamer makes me a "homebody", it's more just the fact that I enjoy alone time.

One note, my fiancee and I are home bodies (like I've said), but not in a bad way.

We go out and do stuff with family, take our nieces out to do stuff, go to sporting events or movies, etc. We just don't do the "go out drinking every weekend night" thing like young people do.

Maybe other people who've been working a while on a normal schedule will understand, but after a long work week you can be kinda tired on a friday night.

Also, we go through stretches where we're so busy with family stuff and whatnot that when we get a "do nothing" weekend it's just awesome. Some weekends can be so busy that you really don't feel you got to relax, if that makes sense.

Those days are long gone for me too. At some point hangovers became full-day events of misery. I kind of miss the days where I could go out and then be fine an hour after waking up.

These days I'll do stuff right after work on a Friday, but be home by 10 relaxing with a game or movie. So worth it.

                      Yea it is!

Couple years ago I was 28 (I'm 31 now), my fiance was 24 and she always wanted to go have drinks after work, go out to eat, or do something to stay busy all the time. We would go but, I just wanted chill at the house and relax after the long day of work. So i told her, look when you get closer to 30ty you going to understand what I am talking about.

Last year that all changed and she said to me "You were right, I just don't feel like going out like we use to. I enjoy coming home and relaxing"

I must say it was a AHHHHHHHHHH HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA moment for me. Very happy we have transitioned into the phase of our lives where we stay active but also enjoy just spending time at the house. It also helps with the wallet, eating out, drinks, etc all can put a hurting on your wallet.

I'm more of a homebody I guess, but life is busy. Between 40-50 hour work weeks, a wife and two young sons, I really don't get all that much.

My gaming is done at night when it's quiet and the family is asleep. I'm lucky to get a few hours in a week but that's OK. I still do things with my buddies when I can, like catch a game at a bar and things like that, but being 31, I just don't have the itch to go out like I used to.

I still go to quite a few sporting events and we travel a lot on the weekends because both of our families live in different towns. Summers are crazy for us, but we're getting these next few weeks home at least after having our newborn son.

                          Re: Question: Are gamers homebodies?

I've become a homebody due to an otherworldly level of "been there, done that" AND the fact that I'm not making (very much of) my money from nightlife and nightlife related activity these days...

Console sports gaming coincidentally came into my world when all that started to wind down...

At this point, I'd much rather "game" than endure yet another roomful of lamebrain's "running game"...

I used to be into the bar scene, but since I work the Thurs, Fri & Sat night, and am studying for my Personal Trainer cert, I don't get out as much as I'd like to...I do like the saving money part...

I am pretty much but mainly because my normal job is 45-60 hours a week. Plus DLG stuff is another 15 hours or so, then any GC stuff I get into. Add 2 kids on that and I don't leave home unless its work related.
