    OS Firearms Thread

When it comes to weapons i'm always surprised how often the two main rules are disregarded. First and foremost never point the weapon at something you dont intend to shoot.

We had several big hunting and gun accidents here this year. One guy while deer hunting shot his young son on accident and killed him, another young boy squirrel hunting with his grand paw shot his dad on accident coming around a corner. Shotgun blast left him blind, then this one gets me the most because they are professionals. Local gun smith working on a shotgun for a customer for duck season, gun was loaded, shot other gun smith at next work bench. He survived but will be carrying around BBs the rest his life.

My dad was a marine and from a very early age I was drilled on gun safety. I think some people become to comfortable and forget just what that weapon is intended to do......KILL!!

How do you not unload something first? I'd like quadruple check that a gun isn't loaded, you know?

I'm so sick of the NICS check!!! Everytime I go to purchase a weapon I get delayed, it is starting to really make me aggravated because I have to drive all the damn way back days to weeks later.

They need to go ahead and remove the damn "instant" out the name because it is NOT a National Instant Criminal Background Check!! I'm headed to my local gun shop and applying for my UPIN so I can fix this from happen anymore.

Picked up a Glock 27 for off-duty/backup carry.

Can't wait to go shoot it. I've shot a lot of Glocks before, but never the 27.

Needed a good IWB holster since I got my S&W. This is a good deal from Alien Gear. Inside and outside holster for $60

I'm probably gonna buy my son a .22 for his birthday next month. He loves shooting my Plinkster so I figure a youth model will be right up his alley.

I think it's hard to pass up the Ruger 10/22. It's "small" for a full-size model, highly upgradable, and will surely last until his adult life. It's what I started with around 8 or 9 and I must say I loved that gun. For $199 it's one fine weapon.

I've got a Ruger 10/22 too. It used to be my grandma's. You can't go wrong with one.

                      Bought this today.

Of course I have to deal with the California 10 day wait period. Can't wait to shoot it in a couple of weeks.

The California firearm compliance laws are a joke, btw. Ridiculous.

On a Glock, how much of it should be lubricated? My friend and I are having a disagreement. I followed the included guide, and watched a video on where to oil. We had my G23 broken down and he thought it looked way to dry. I didn't see his, but he made it seem like he puts oil everywhere. Can too much oil, or oil in the wrong places cause jamming?

Every round I've shot through it came from a local seller, I've never had a jam. He has had 4-5 jams with the same ammo. He has a used Glock 22, mine is a new (2 years ago) Glock 23.

I'm unsure on this when it comes to glocks. I was always taught to oil all metal parts to prevent any pitting or rusting. Since glocks have so much polymer I'm sure far less oiling would be required.

I've read glocks like it drier. In any case though, the gun shouldn't be dripping or even visibly oiled. It takes time or many rounds fired but excess oil can attract dust, dirt and grime and that definitely causes jams. For storage all the metal needs a light coat to prevent rust. For shooting, really only the moving joints like the trigger firing pin mechanism and spots that show signs of wear from metal on metal contact need lube.
