    Fair enough.

One thing I've noticed about the media coverage on this and the Aurora shootings is that the media is quick to mention that what is happening isn't tied to terrorism. I wish they'd be more honest in what they're saying there. These acts are the very definition of terrorism.

Actually, the police chief said that they're treating it as "domestic terrorism".

There is a difference between "regular" mass violence and "terrorism", however. It's a fine line but usually "terrorism" involves some sort of political, religious, social, or economic "reasoning".

I'm upset that some acts get this label and other acts that also deserve it don't.

Well, we all know media is a piece of ****. If the police chief is saying that's how they are treating it, that's how it should be referred to.

I would classify the Aurora shooting as more of the actions of an effed up guy and this is definitely domestic terror.

Anyways very sad story. I won't say anything else on my mind about it except to say that the first thing that crossed my mind jibes with BK's thoughts.

This is sad, but I am not surprised.

                From the CNN Article.

                This doesn't bode well.

Kaleka was not at the temple at the time of the shooting, but helped police interview witnesses in the aftermath. He said members described the attacker as a bald, white man, dressed in a white T-shirt and black pants and with a 9/11 tattoo on one arm -- which "implies to me that there's some level of hate crime there."

7 miles north of where we live.

Across the street, my wife and I held our wedding reception 24 years ago. Before we were married, we played volleyball where the shooting took place. Before the temple was built, it used to be a athletic club.

                  Unbelievable, just sickening.

What a sad day. Especially for it to happen at a place of worship.

I didnt know what Sikh was so I looked it up and found out that Wikipedia says the USA has the 3rd biggest population of Sikhs with around 700,000.

Growing up in Chicago, I came across and went to high school and college with tons of them. You will find them all up and down Devon St and Touhy St on the Northside of Chicago, in and around the Rogers Park neighborhood.

So ignorant and a waste of innocent life. When did mass shootings become the norm?

It just seems like we have this more and more.

"One or two a year" doesn't mean it's the "norm" where many regions of the world have violence on this scale or worse, once or twice a day or multiple times a week.
