Some girls do flirt strange, but high fives ? That's a little strange. I rarely even high five my closest friends and when I do, it usually involves sports or we are just acting a fool.

I have a friend who high-fives every one of his female friends. It's at a point where everyone just sees him as a friend/good guy. I personally prefer hugs over high-fives with a girl.

As far as an update goes, he said he's trying to hint a little more before he goes for it. Just so he feels better about it (high fiving in the hallways, trying to talk to her more than he normally does, asking what she's doing after school every day just to talk to her more). Which I think is good, but I told him don't play too long, because you might blow your chances..

It's natural to want to slowly work up to it but he just needs to nut up and rip off the band-aid. Either she likes him or not, more high fives and all that isn't going to increase his chances that she says yes. It's just going to prolong his state of uncertainty. He needs to get it over with and either enjoy the date or find out that he's taken up residence in the friend zone.

I can't reiterate enough what others have said about the feeling of "what if" being far worse than the feeling of rejection. Rejection hurts for a moment and then you move on to the next girl, "what if" lingers.

Actually quite the opposite, I'd imagine that every high five he has with her, that's a percent chance going down.

At least, I know if I was high fiving a chick, I am probably putting her in the friend zone immediately.

High fives? Is that what we doing today?!? I weep for today's youth... This is the end of civilization as we know it. How are humans supposed to progress to procreation if we spend valuable formative years perfecting the art of.... THE HIGH FIVE?

When did humanity veer off course? If I ever hear that any of my two sons have high fived a chick, I'm pulling out the belt and beating them off GP.... If she puts up a hand for a high five, decline that sucka and tell her that you are not genetically disposed to high fiving the opposite sex. Such behavior is usually reserved for your fellow males. You are more than willing to express mutual appreciation and attraction in the more traditional and time-tested way.
