Water temps in the gulf are in the mid 80's, combine that with the fact that forecasters see nothing that would hinder Isaacs strengthening. Doesn't look very good at this point. These things change by the hour though.

It hit Guantanamo Bay, Cuba yeterday. It didn't hit us as bad as predicted. We got strong rain but the wind was mild. We have to evacuate our living quarters and were on "lock-down" for the last 72 hours so that sucked.

The ECMWF still has it hitting FL/AL and they have been the best model over the last few years.

Yeah they are taking the average, because the American model (GFS) is taking isaac even further west.

It's appearing that Issac is just going to breeze by my area: My county did shutdown the schools, for Monday. Precaution and watch often, I guess.

Not looking good. Also not liking the chatter I'm hearing about comparisons to Katrina.

Yep they say it may make it to cat 3 now. This thing may keep moving west into Texas.

Eh, that's bound to happen. We still hear about past natural disasters when a new one is upcoming.

But I've had a bad feeling about this one from the moment I've heard about it. Has there been much done to minimize damage after what happened with Katrina? I just don't wanna see what's been rebuilt torn down again so shortly after.

I don't anticipate anything too bad for us this far inland, probably just power outages, light flooding and some missing shingles. I did spend the last few hours preparing (filled up both cars, loaded up on flash lights/batteries , non-perishable foods water, etc.) Stay safe guys.

Yep just done the same thing myself. Key thing is to keep an eye on Jim Cantore wherever he is you better not be.

Well guys, I'm gonna come out and say it. Believe in what you will, but Isaac is going to make landfall on the same day Katrina did. August 29th.
