    Re: College Application Process

I applied to one school (University of Michigan). Got in, all was good.

I knew I'd get in based on my high school being a great private one, getting great grades, and good enough ACT score.

In state tuition, at one of (if not the) top public school in the nation, great for engineering. Can't complain one bit.

I would have applied to Michigan State as well if I didn't get into Michigan, but it didn't have to come to that.

I thought about MIT or places like that, but I didn't want my parents (or I) to have to pay for all that out of state or private school costs. IMO it just wasn't worth it considering how awesome Michigan is.

I didn't apply for any scholarships. I'm white, my parents (at that point) were both college educated and working, so I got priced out of most scholarships. My grades were great, but not quite enough for some of the merit scholarships....

Re-taking the ACT tomorrow.. I'm sure most of you don't miss having to take these standardized tests.

        Re: College Application Process

I'm really looking forward to visiting colleges and stuff.

I'm looking for a larger school (Preferably with a lot of school spirit; I want to go to a D-1 college even though I don't play sports) with very good academics. I don't want to be withing an hour or two of my home (Lehigh Valley) so anything in Philly, NYC, or most of NJ is out. Any thoughts?

As of now, I kinda have the schools I would like grouped into three categories: Stretch, Middle Ground, and Safe.

        Stretch:
Duke (My #1. I have the SAT scores to get in, but it's selective as hell. I plan to apply early here)
Northwestern (#3 on my list overall)
Georgetown (Not sure how sold I am on here. I'm attending a Sport Industry Management Summer Program here in a few weeks, so I'll have a better sense of the school after that)

        Middle Ground:
        UVA (My #2 school)
        Boston College

        Safe:
        Loyola MD
Penn State (I have a lot of relatives that are alum (Mom, 4 Uncles, 2 Aunts, 1 Cousin, 1 Brother-in-Law) so even though it's a selective ish school to be considered "safe" I should get in)

Anybody attend any of these schools/could offer advice?
        Football: Denver Broncos
        Baseball: Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs
        Hockey: Allentown Phantoms
NCAA: The College of William and Mary Tribe

I feel the same way regarding D-1 sports. Although I won't be playing, I'll sure as heck be involved as a fan if I have the time. College sports seem great.
