    Community College Advice

So I messed up 2 years in highschool..... freshman year and sophomore year.... averaged in those 2 years, A 68.307

Junior year and this year I'm like at a 87 but when its all said and done, my GPA will only be around a 74 -78..

So I've been looking at Dutchess Community College, and its extremely cheap and its one of the top schools in NY...

What do you guys think... is this a good idea? Thanks in advance

I would still try to apply to regular bigger schools as well. Because they might still accept you. But if not, then yeah just do the community college for a couple years, get your GPA up and transfer to the school you always wanted to go to.

Going to college some where is better then never going.

Community college can be a great way to get your grades up, but I agree with GMSS, still apply to 4 year schools that you want to. GPA isn't everything, if your extracurriculars and SAT/ACT are strong, you still might be able to get in.

If you do decide on community college, check out what articulation agreements they have with 4 year universities. That will ensure that the credits you earn at CC will not disappear once you transfer. That's the biggest issue with going to CC then transferring to a 4 year school

What do you plan on majoring in? What field do you want your career to be in?

You probably wouldn't need half of the garbage classes you would be forced to take at a university anyway.

I went the community college route and it worked out fine for me.

Tuition was cheap; cost me about $3500 to get an associates degree. I transferred to a 4yr university to finish undergrad. Saved quite a bit of change too.

Get your grades up and go to whatever school you want. Acceptance standards are a lot more relaxed for CC transfers versus coming right out of HS. This was good for me because I am not a great standardized test taker.

Community college is the way to go either way. Don't waste money going to a university right away.

Ahhh, I assumed when you said what you wanted to do that the CC had related courses for you to take.

You can still use CC time to get those annoying generals out of the way, at a fraction of the cost, then move those credits over to a university that has your core PT courses.

Go to the CC and don't look back.

I went to a community college for 1 year. Now I am an attorney at a large law firm making the big bucks (and working my *** off as well). CC is a fine alternative for someone who is motivated, but didn't do great in high school. Plus it is cheap.

That's what I want to do.... go for one year, work my *** off, then transfer to a four college.

Hopefully everything works out planned though
