I'm sorry, you're right. He opened the hatch doors moments before she put her hands on him (as we see that one guy flee the **** out of there before she actually does it as he's driving).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What is it about the bus?
Admittedly I don't. Do you know she did? Did you see anything that would leave you to believe she did?
Wasn't he just seconds removed from operating a moving bus when she assaulted him?
If he attempts to simply restrain her, she's going to continue to swing on him like she did after he attempted to throw her off the bus, but at that point there were people in the middle. He also had no way of knowing whether or not she may have had something that could be used as a weapon.
Sure, a mortal kombat uppercut may have been on the excessive side, but I think striking her was warranted given those circumstances. With that in mind, there's no use differentiating between a straight-up punch and that glorious uppercut.
My only point is that I have no doubt he could have subdued the situation without an uppercut.
I'm not claiming that anyone who is okay with the uppercut is wrong, I'm just saying that I believe it could have be handled better.
To me, it's clear she was just a nut and was no real threat. I know some will claim "what if she had this weapon" and I have no defense for that.
I'm not trying to be confrontational, I just feel it could have been handled differently.Comment

Re: What is it about the bus?
Im not following the he shouldnt have put his hands on her thinking. Nobody has any idea how dangerous this woman could have been. More importantly the bus driver couldnt possibly know how dangerous she was. I agree that he got a little overzealous with the body rocking exclamation and shinryuken but hell if that woman ever does this again.
I feel like some of you dont realize how reckless...ratchet some people in this world are. It aint all daisies and dont hit a woman because momma told me so. It just isnt. How can the man restrain her please tell me? Hug her? Tie her with his handy handcuffs? He freaking threw her off the bus and she came right back in forcing HIM to leave his post. Imagine what would happen if he restrained her. You think she wouldnt still try to get at him. And then there are the 15 other people on the bus the driver needs to worry about. I, I just cant fault the driver all that much.
I do understand why he was fired. He just couldnt be allowed to work there anymore.Last edited by kingkilla56; 10-14-2012, 12:47 AM.Comment

Re: What is it about the bus?
Yes, I do realize how reckless people can be. I was in a building in Pittsburgh that was evacuated a couple weeks ago because of it.
I understand it's not all "daisies" and there really is no reason to downplay my opinion that way.
And I'm not worried about what "momma" taught me. It's just my opinion this could have been handled differently.
I'm okay with a contrary opinion, but there is no reason to talk about those that disagree like they are naive.Comment

Im more commenting on those who say you should never strike a woman because there has to be context to that ideal. I was raised to never pick fights with women, never strike them in anger, and never try to overpower them and impose myself on them in anyway. But if I'm being assaulted, more specifically by a stranger who I absolutely know nothing about or what they are capable of, I'd have to deal with it how I saw fit, hands included, regardless of gender.Comment

Re: What is it about the bus?
I don't think men should hit women. I've never done it even when I thought about doing it lol.
I also believe women shouldn't hit men either. I don't know why so many people joke about it and laugh when a woman hits a man or does some kind of a vindictive thing to a man... thats out of line and out of order and its not funny either.
That said, this lady here, whether it was the bus driver or not, with what she is doing, someone was going to eventually bust her in the mouth. You don't go out on the streets in the public running your lips and getting in a grown man's face and not expect some kind of consequence. You just don't disrespect men like that especially in front of a crowd of people, when he's just trying to work.
All of those things attributed to her being punched, and if he really wanted to damage her physically he could have.
Im not justifying it but you keep challenging a man like that, the man in him is going to rise up and I don't care who you are. Think before you act.
I could arm chair the guy all day long, and for all we know, we have no idea what kind of day he was having and what was the last straw. Some random woman hopping on the bus trying to steal a ride then yelling, cursing at, screaming, spitting on the man, and then putting her hands on him, whatever the day was, it was enough... You don't know what you would've done in his situationComment

Re: What is it about the bus?
If someone that small is talking so much junk..spits and strikes you..you have to assume the worst at that point, no?
You're just reacting to the force of his blow. At his size he could've pounded her face against the glass and stomped her out.Comment

Re: What is it about the bus?
I feel like this video should be shown in every Public Transportation Venue there is, just to warn people what can happen if you blatantly continue to disrespect a Bus Driver or even a Train Operator.
Or at the very least, have this broad do a PSA about the dangers of disrespecting a Bus Operator and assaulting/spitting on them constantly and the consequences that can arise from those actions.#RespectTheCultureComment

If society gives me a thread like this each year, I'll be thankful. In 2010, we had Epic Beard Man. In 2011, The McDonalds Massacre (which is second to none imo). In 2012, The Bus Driver aka Sagat (Tiger Uppercut!).
The most joyous thing about these threads are the subsequent gifs and after-the-fact analysis. Each one of these threads have left me in tears.Originally posted by J. Re: What is it about the bus?
Begrudgingly I take public transportation to work every day. I drive to the last possible stop before the city to avoid this nonsense as much as possible.
I still don't agree with the actions he took though. It could have been handled far differently.
Definitely gets an A for entertainment value though."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman
