I've done the same thing dude. It's weird because when I laugh I kinda wake up, and I catch myself laughing, and that just makes it even funnier like you said.

I've woken up teary eyed twice... I know the first time was because two people I know (friends but not that close) had died in a plane crash in the dream. I must've been projecting it outwardly because my girl knew I had been dreaming of something awful by my actions while I was dreaming.

And recently I got stabbed in a dream and snapped right out of sleep. First time I can remember I was physically harmed like that in sleep.. It really does wake you up.

But... There's a thread for this.

whenever i drink this happens to me.
I dont get drunk, I just blackout.

Ive had conversations on the phone with people while drinking (maybe after 7/8 beers) and i dont remember them the next day.

      its scary stuff.

sort of like how you can drive a car on autopilot and not get in an accident. I daydreamed while driving on a major highway for a good 2/3 minutes before.

For me, it's always my mom that is in impending doom/gets killed and I'm frantically trying to save her. That or one of my friends/girlfriend/family turns on me for some reason and I freak out.

I remember having two awful dreams with my girlfriend sleeping with me.

One where I think something bad had happened to her and I woke up and she asked me if I had a nightmare because apparently I was like shaking in my dream.

Another one I think I got in a car crash and it whipped my neck to the side and all of a sudden I woke up and my neck was in a god awful spasming pain and I kinda freaked out because I didn't know what was going on.

On a sidenote, it's kind of a joke in my family that our dog is the dog version of me. Both of us have our leg twitch like right as we're dozing off and then it continues to twitch every once in awhile if we're having a bad dream.

Re: Went to sleep upstairs, woke up downstairs on my couch

In college one time I wandered downstairs and outside my building in the middle of the night, locking myself out. It was raining so I guess once I got outside and got wet that's what snapped me out of it. This was really late at night and nobody was coming back or leaving at this point, so I thought I was pretty much screwed. There were 3 doors to the building and I spent probably about 15 minutes at each standing by the door, waiting to see if someone would come by but no luck. Eventually, after walking around the building I notice the window is open for the laundry room and the screen is broken, so I climb in the window and get back in.

Only time something like this happened to me. I did drink that night and I'm guessing it played a role but I wasn't that drunk at any point, and by the time I went to bed I had pretty much sobered up.

When I was a little kid, 5th grade maybe, in my sleep I walked out of the house and down the street to my friend's house. Rang the doorbell at 2 in the morning and asked his parent's if he could come out and play.

I used to sleepwalk to the bathroom and take a shower to as a kid. The water would wake me up.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. What was the reaction of your friends parents?

The second part reminds me of one time when I was in high school I woke up during the middle of the night totally convinced my mom had just woken me up to get ready for school and went downstairs into the bathroom to take a shower. I managed to wake up enough to realize it wasn't time to get up before actually getting in the shower though and went back to bed. I think it was only 1:30 or so.

Re: Went to sleep upstairs, woke up downstairs on my couch

I sleepwalked a few times when I was younger. One I remember was walking into my parents room in the middle of the night, turning on their light, and looking in my dad's closet. When my mom asked what I was doing I told her I was getting a drink of water.

I don't sleepwalk anymore, but I have woken up wearing different clothes than I went to bed in. I've also woken up my wife trying to kiss her in the middle of the night, without realizing I'm doing it.

They were all like, "sorry Kevin, Josh is asleep right now." And I said, "that's alright, I'll wait." But they walked me home.

I remember waking up standing on their porch both confused and embarrassed. My mom still tells that story 20 years later cracking up. Lol

I used to sleep talk often according to my parents but it would just be incoherent babbling. I also have a tendency to thrash when I sleep (still to this day i have no idea why) it usually results with me slamming against the wall thats right next to my bed or falling out of it completely. Funny stuff when If you really think about it

Oh yeah, I'm apparently quite the accomplished somniloquist (somniloquy = sleep talking).

Sounds like your brain is acting like a terrorist and hijacking your body.

I don't know if I've ever sleep walked before, however, in my drinking days, I've definitely went to bed at 2 with a 10 and woke up at 10 with a 2. That's sort of the same, right?

i sleep walked once when i was younger, apparently my middle finger was very active but you know, the younger you are the more you get away with.which is why i would love to be a baby.practically a smaller gta.a bunch of crimes at a smaller scale and no consequence.
i tried not touching anything when i was younger and ended up pissing all over myself.
