    Giving up your dog

Anybody had to do it? I'm taking 1/4 of my dogs in today. He's almost 6 and he has become very aggressive over the last couple of months and with all the kids in the neighborhood, it's best we let him go.

    How did you cope?

    Re: Giving up your dog

I refuse to give up any animal.

Do you see how the kids in the neighborhood interact with your dog? If it was my neighborhood, there would be a reason he would be aggressive and that's because the piece of **** kids in the neighborhood that abuse animals. I seen one chasing my cat up onto my porch with a stick until I came to the door, he almost **** himself.

Could never give up my dog.

When I was a kid, we had an aggressive dog. Great with the family, but outside of the family, he'd tear your head off. Had to keep him on a leash inside and be super careful he never got out of the yard when he was outside.

      Good luck.

If your dog is aggressive, have him neutered. And they do have classes for aggressive dogs. They can be trained, you just have to be more firm with an aggressive dog, but they can be trained out of it.

          Yeah, I agree.

I can't imagine giving up my pet, but that's just me.

If you absolutely must give him up then I'd try and find a rescue that can help him, rather than just giving him to the humane society...

Couldn't do it. Nope. Got down the street and turned the opposite way headed to the mall and picked up Black Ops. We are going to get some help for him.

Giving one of my dogs up over some snot nosed neighborhood kids. Not just no, but that's a HELL NO.

I don't know the circumstances, like if the dog is an inside/outside dog, how is he aggressive and what not? but, I think that you're right in keeping him. Just work with him, don't leave him outside alone, etc. and like GMMS mentioned get him fixed if he isn't already.

Good luck and let us know how everything works out.

Awesome! I'm proud of you, you'll be happy in the future you didn't give in.

I'm sure you can get him enough help to make you comfortable having him around, the training people can do amazing things.

My man!! Good for you. This stuff is not uncommon and with the right training, time, and patience this will work out for sure.

Good deal. I foster/train pups (dogs, just always call 'em pups for some reason now) so they can be rehomed. When you say he's aggressive, can you explain further? Just curious. Typically when dogs are aggressive it's fear aggression. i.e. I'm going to get you before you can get me.

My dog is not agressive but he excessively chases his tail. We've thought about getting him that thundercoat thing, any tips?
