What are you favorite dishes to cook? BBQ.. etc... when I'm bored I like to cook. Cooking some ham based pinto beans and also baking some brown sugar apple chicken. (yes i'm the man that owns a cat) haha..

yeah figured this wasn't the manliest thread to start but I was just curious if there were any cooks out there. The Microwave chef doesn't count.

I make a pretty mean chicken alfredo. I've done research on many types of meals and try out once in awhile. My parents sre going to FL for 2 months so I'll have to get back to it then.

              Re: What do you cook?

I had to learn how to cook when my ex moved out a few months back. I've actually grown to enjoy it when I'm not feeling too lazy.

Some of my favorites that I've made so far are:

-Maple Salmon with Baked Asparagus in Balsamic Butter Sauce
-Made some delicious oven-baked BBQ ribs w/ a from-scratch BBQ sauce
-Maryland Crab Soup that I added shrimp & bay scallops to
-Pistachio-crusted Chicken with a Raspberry sauce
              -Shrimp Scampi
              -Stir-fry Beef and Broccoli
-an old family recipe - Hearty Italian Sausage Soup
              -Thai Lime Pepper Chicken
-Spicy Garlic & Pepper Shrimp w/ Bay Scallops
              -Island Pork Tenderloin
-I make some good fried chicken but I hate having to clean the deep-fryer after (actually my deep fryer is still housing oil used to make fried chicken back in November, oops)

Basically just did some scrolling through my instagram photos to recall some of these. Yes, I'm that guy.

I love searching for recipes though and trying to come up with different ideas for combinations and whatnot. Every time I make a grocery list I get trapped on Pinterest and allrecipes for at least 30 minutes and open a million tabs before narrowing it down to a handful of recipes to try for that week/2 weeks.

I love cooking, my favorite thing to make for parties, to bring people, or whatever are Foie Gras Lollipops that are rolled in Pop Rocks. The reactions I get from people range from astonishment to disgust. I also love to make, among other things, Tiramisu, Mulligatawny soup, and ravioli with creamy marinara sauce.

I make a great strip steak. Usually serve it with a steamed vegetable and a potato. I also enjoy cooking pasta and making all different types of sauce for it. My Vodka sauce is probably my best.

                        Re: What do you cook?

Just off the top of my head these are some of my regular meals, or meals I know how to make quite well.

                        Spaghetti(homemade sauce)
                        Lasagna
                        Shrimp or Crawfish étouffée
Rice and Gravy, by pan frying a roast or steak of some sort.
                        Smothered Chicken
                        Cajun Jambalaya Pasta
Pan frying a steak with some some butter and onions.
Cooking chickens breasts in a crock pot with a jar or two of salsa all day.
                        The normal baked chicken breasts.
Tacos, with beef or shrimp depending if I have any leftover.
Baked tilapia or flounder with soy sauce, sometimes with just lemon pepper

There's other recipes I know from my family, but need to ask my family what they are cause I just can't think of all things I've eaten on a regular rotation back when I lived with them. Should also try some new recipes eventually, too often do I just buy/make the same stuff.

Anyone mind sharing some of your best recipes? I am looking to venture into the kitchen in 2013, so this would be a nice reference thread. Maybe I could surprise my wife with some good cooking.

Cooking is easy. I'm no chef supreme but give me ingredients and I can whip up something tasty. I don't understand why some people "don't know how to cook." You put the **** over heat and it does the rest. Seriously, if you're just cooking for yourself, you should know what tastes you like and don't have to worry about messing anything up. And the more experience you get, the better your dishes become.

It's so much more affordable too. You can get 2-3 meals out of what you pay for takeout or even a frozen dinner if you cook something up yourself.
