LOL you ain't lying, coming from the north, I moved to Florida in 04, and I went down to the marina to a restaurant with my Dad, and this huge critter just ran right in front of me, and I was like What the hell is that!! The Waiter said " oh those are palmetto bugs" AKA Florida cockroaches. "And those are normal?" I said.

Sure enough saw a trillion more that night scurrying about. And the first time you see one, it's startling. And they are everywhere.

Never really had a bug problem when I lived in Mississippi. Occasionally saw a spider, but never any roaches or anything. It's all about the condition of your house.

Man, where I was at. You couldn't escape palmetto bugs, you could rake every leaf away from your house, and spray every corner, and siding. I didn't leave food around or anything, and those little... I should say big bastards still got in.

Doubtful, except in parts of Alaska maybe. They're pretty much endemic everywhere, though not everyone has seen them. I've never seen one though I know they can be found in the area.

Watching my niece and now my nephew grow up has turned me around on kids a little bit. My niece will be starting kindergarten next year and I watched my nephew struggle for a while before finally taking his first steps at 14 months.

I was almost as excited about it as my mom and sister were.

I won't be ready for kids for years, but I want them one day I think. I just wish my future wife/gf could spit one out that's about a year old

                I'm super nervous around newborns.

edit: Actually, no I hope she can't spit something that big out. Good god I wasn't thinking when I typed that out.

I did say insects. And just black widows and hobo spiders (aggressive house spider) that are somewhat dangerous. Most of them are pretty damn small and just a nuisance.

As far as roaches in Washington, they exist, but they are rare and generally smaller. They don't like the climate in the Pacific Northwest. Also most that exist live in Eastern Washington, and that's like a completely different state if you go over there.

You have to catch spiders early in the Spring before it's too late.

Once they start having babies it's over.

I've seen small roaches but nothing like how they're portrayed on tv. Had one or two show up in my bathroom since I moved here, I think they climbed up through the plumbing into the tub.

Being on the top floor I don't have an issue with spiders, last place I lived though was a basement bedroom (carpeting, drop tile ceiling, walk in closet, a palace for a basement room lol), and I had all these smear marks on my wall from squashing spiders. Had to keep cleaning the guts off like every few days

If you have a hobo spider problem you just need to counter them with Terrence Jones spiders, and that will solve the problem.

Yep Palmetto Bugs are huge and can be everywhere, but they rarely make their way inside unless it's raining.
