While looking through some files in my office, I found a wage sheet from 2006 for the person that held the job prior to me. She made $10,000 more than I do now (51k vs. 41k), despite being a poor employee and holding a lesser title than I do now.

What would you do with this information? Should I just chalk it up to the cost of being in a poor economy (although we did have our best year ever in 2012), or should I bring this with me to my annual review to support my cause?

I would for sure point it out but not harp on it.

It's a valid argument but not one you want to make a huge deal out of.

The questions that are asked at job interviews are ****ing dumb. Who came up with this crap anyway?

Today I was asked "where do you see yourself in a year and three to five years?" What, you don't care about how I see myself in two years? As if this is some special position I can make a career out of. Dumb. Dumb dumb dumb. And pointless. This whole system needs to be revamped.

Should have said I see myself in Texas.

Today I was asked "where do you see yourself in a year and three to five years?" What, you don't care about how I see myself in two years? As if this is some special position I can make a career out of. Dumb. Dumb dumb dumb. And pointless. This whole system needs to be revamped.

Should have said I see myself in Texas.

What drives me nuts is when they ask "Tell me about a time you were in (scenerio A) and how you reacted. And then proceed to ask 3 similar questions.


They have to know I don't keep tabs on "scenarios" throughout my career and how I reacted. They have to know I am completely BS'ing my answer.

Just busted out on the very last hand of level six (just before the second break) on a nasty bad beat.

I was in the big blind and had $10,250 in chips. The dude under the gun goes all-in for around $4,000. A player in middle position who had over $35,000 in chips just flat calls the $4,000 bet. It is folded all the way around to me and I look down (I never look at my hand until it is my turn to act) and see A-K. I went all-in for my $10,250 figuring it would get rid if the big stack and leave me heads-up with the original raiser. Nope. This jackass calls another $6,000+ with A-J. The original raiser had a meager K-9.

Boom! Jack on the flop and I'm busted.

If my hand would have held up I would have over $25,000 going into the second break but instead I'm dust. Third week in a row where I had the best hand when the money went in and got eliminated. That's poker.

This is why I don't look at my hand when something like this happen. I'd fold big slick without an issue.

With the big stack calling with more bets behind him he already committed into calling any raise. It also tells me that he has 'something right' in his hand if he's willing to go heads up with an all in. At that point I'd think they both had aces or pocket pairs.

Staring at slick, a reason I don't look, its hard to lay it down but a smart poker player would of pushed you all in after the flop anyway, especially if he paired up.

I love hold 'em tho - I just started playing online thru my iPad recently after my wife brought up some chip sets I won through some tournaments. Can't wait to get back to the States to play in some tournaments again.

Both of these things are complete crap when they happen.

Catcher is just the worst thing ever invented on The Show and I simulate the rest of the game when it happens.

And they really think that I should be held accountable for letting the 6'10" PF score on my 6'0" PG/SG in the paint? Meh.

Right. Half the time I'll be at like an A- for a teammate grade, I get moved down to PF, their giant of a power forward puts in a ton of points on my tiny PG and I get knocked to a B by the end of it all. It's not my fault that the coach is idiotic enough to stick me on someone with a height advantage of about a foot... Sheesh.

I used to love playing Hold 'em (never for actual money, more just for fun) and then it just stopped appealing to me. Now when I play cards it's either Cribbage or 500.

The thing is, I know both of those players and knew I was ahead and probably had at least one of them dominated. The dude who shoved UTG could have had any two (I put him on exactly King high or Ace-rag) and the dude with the large stack is just a terrible player whose range was Q-10 through Ace-rag. If he had anything better he would have re-raised and not just cold called. I read the hand perfectly, just got sucked out on. It happens.

You are complaining about being given a softball question like that? **** you. On my last interview (for the job I currently have) they wanted me to whiteboard a "simple" Storage Area Network (SAN). That was the very first question.
