I'm doing the same thing. I'm looking at a Nikon D7000 with a 18-200mm lens and a 35mm f/1.8 prime lens.

It's great to have good photos of family events, sporting events, parties, etc. to look back on.

Looking at the Canon T3i... It's somewhat of an unrealistic "goal" though because I'm trying to build up my savings account again. I usually try to keep at least $500 in there for "emergency money". Recently, I gave a good portion of it to my mom to help pay for the bills. I only have a work study job to rely on for income because I'm a full time student, and since it's Christmas break, I don't really have anything to save.

But anyway, do you have any suggestions for a beginning photographer? I think it'd be better if I got a cheaper, perhaps used DSLR first, but I'm not an expert on cameras in general so I wouldn't know what's good and what's bad in terms of price and function.

What changed?

When you try to "click" on a show or movie, it starts playing instantly on the last episode you left off with. You can still browse episodes, but you have to press B or the d pad to get to them and the current episode is still playing.

I like being able to choose a show and then pick my episode, instead of it starting it for me.

Saving my money up this year for a DSLR camera. Hopefully I'll have enough money to take pictures of my sister's college graduation. My mom is really into pictures and she still uses a somewhat older camera, so I'm sure she'd also appreciate it if someone else put more effort into "preserving the memories" of our rare family gatherings by taking good pictures.

I should probably do the same, given how rare my family has gatherings as well. A lot of people are shocked to hear when I tell them about my family. Because I'm only close to a few immediate family members and that's it. Half the people at my "family gatherings" now aren't even blood related. It's sad really. Thanksgiving and Christmas was a hell of a lot more fun when I was little.

I'm just glad my parents are still married and doing well. So when/if I have kids they'll have two grandparents that will love them to death and will always be there.

I gave my wife a lot of crap for shelling $700 for a camera, but hindsyte it was a good deal. She loves taking pictures and some that she takes look professional. A lady at the photo center told her some of her pictures need the copyryte where they look professional.

I put in a lot of work this morning too, I walked the dog for 2 minutes went back to bed then just watched Sportscenter for 2-3 hours cause I was lazy and there wasn't anything on TV.
