    Re: Off Topic 2013

Working long hours has never bothered me. If working 50+ hours a week is what it takes to provide a comfortable living for my family, then so be it.

I currently work anywhere from 40-50+ hours a week. Still find time for friends, family and whatever activities I enjoy in my spare time. Has more to do with how you manage your free time.

    Everyone's different though.

It was good, but QT has done better. If you've watched his work since, and are just now watching it for the first time, I could understand.

I get $8 ($9-9.25 to manage, I was at $8.50 after I asked for a demotion from manager and then took a 6 month hiatus) at a pizza place, and $9 as a stockroom guy. The stockroom is EASIER. I "love" making pies, though.

I'm thinking about going elsewhere for more money and dropping the pizza thing. Retail, at least in the back room, is definitely better than the food industry. And those bastards will milk you for all your worth. Seems retail starts you at a higher rate (hey, ya can't go lower then minimum wage!) and you actually get raises, which at least at the pizza place I work at, don't exist.

The redeeming qualities are that I'm super familiar and comfortable (and its actually fun/funny with co-workers) with the job, and it's extremely flexible with my other job schedule because I get a 2-week schedule at the stock job and they wait until the last minute to get new schedule up at the pizza place. Still, I feel as if I'm wasting some time/money making $8 when I could get .50-$1 more elsewhere... For what? Comfort? I could be comfortable elsewhere too, and more well paid.

So I get your dilemma. If you go out on good terms, chances are you'll be welcomed back to your old job if things at a new place don't work out. I know the pizza place is a mess when I'm not there because only two other people (the managers) are as good at making the pies as me. They'd rather the quality of their business suffer then give me .50 cents more an hour...

Gonna cut this now, holy rambles Batman!
I been trying to find another job for a while. It sucks because thats with the night shift pay. The company gives you like .05 to .15 cent raises very rarely as well.

Its still my favorite. The character beats are almost flawless and it still has that flair of style, but its not in your face like Tarantino has worked up since then.

I always thought companies compensate employees for working the night shift. $8 and change sounds extremely low for working those hours.

I like it more every time I watch it, but I still liked Reservoir Dogs the most. Probably because it was my first time seeing a Tarantino film.

Remember where he lives too, though.

I made 10$ an hour pushing carts in Paramus, NJ.

On cost of living factors alone, that would equate to a little less than 8$ an hour in his area.

Crap in Indiana and Vermont you would have been paid $6.25 for pushing carts LOL. Hell the grocery store cashiers were only making $6.50 an hour.

Our min wage is $7.25. Its Grocery so they are bastards. I think the Night pay compensation is like .50-.75 cents, which means I made about .50 cents of raises in 3 years. I'm tired of applying to stores only to never get called back. Companies don't care anymore so they squeeze as much as they want out of their employees because they know there's not many places in the area hiring so they basically say take it or leave.

I know, I know. I'm kind of ashamed that I didn't like it all that much. Maybe another watch will help me see the light.

Where you live makes a HUUUUGE difference. 8.50 in the middle of WV would go a lot further than 9.50 in Northern NJ. Are either enough to have a comfortable living? HELLLL NOOO, but you can get by.

5 days/45-50 hrs, except for tax season.

We're closed every Sunday and most managers take Wednesday off.

We're open 8-8 during tax season, but 10-8 the reast of the year and even the managers work a regular 8 1/2 hour shift. For them, it's not even that tough of a job.
