Closed on my house this afternoon. Got a majority of my stuff moved in already.

Internet and TV won't be set up until tomorrow though, so I find myself at my parents' house now to watch Team USA.

Good day for me so far. So happy.

I've got Subway, McDonald's, Jimmy Johns, Popeyes, Chipoltle, Quaker Steak & Lube Express, Taco Bell Express, Arbys, a couple chinese places, and Indian food place, a sushi place, a couple pizza places, and a bunch of other different restaurants all within about 2 miles of my apartment. Good thing you clarified that because I don't think BRATwurst would be very good for an upset stomach.

Congrats buddy. Having a house is great, but can be nerve racking at times. Especially if you're like me and when you try to fix things you do more harm than good :o

Thanks man. Luckily for me it's a brand new house, so hopefully I won't have to fix too many things just yet. Haha

I wouldn't say that. Depending on how much influence you had on what went in it. My parent's house was finished in March of 02. In the last 10 years, my parents have replaced the air conditioner, the furnace, I bought them a better dish washer, replaced the microwave, replaced the kitchen fluorescent light that always vibrated, repainted the walls because the paint wasn't that great of quality, replaced the cheap carpet with new carpet upstairs and hardwood floors down, replaced the garage door opener, redid the back patio... Oh, and most people in the neighborhood, the roofs aren't even making it past 10 years, so that is surely next but my dad may wait for the next big storm this summer so either insurance will help out or it'll have to be done. Someone has already come out and looked at it and it's fine for now, but we'll see how long that lasts.

Now had they found it a few months sooner, some of that could have been done ahead of time, though it was probably cheaper for my dad to do it himself, but still.

You'll be surprised. We moved into our brand new house in 2010. We haven't had anything too expensive happen yet, however we've had a few repairs here and there - a hole in the ceiling done by yours truly, a pretty major pumping mishap and faulty oven glass that shattered glass across the kitchen floor while we were baking cookies.

Plus, for me there's always the stress of having your home damaged during a storm. We've actually had two small tornados touch down within a few miles of my home during th past year or so. Then there's hurricane season to worry about too. Not that I'm afraid of any major damage or flooding. We live too far inland so really the only thing we have to worry about is falling trees. As a renter hurricanes aren't that bad. It's actually kind of cool watching debris fly around and stuff, but as a home owner all I'm thinking about is "Please don't let anything get damaged. I don't want to fork over a deductible right now"

All and all it's worth it though.... just always expect the unexpected.

Yeah, things are bound to go wrong with the house. That's just the nature of being a homeowner. I'm just hoping they won't start showing up until a little ways down the road.
