Know what amuses me. When people over hype a vacation. If you live in Chicago and you going to Detroit or Milwaukee, that isn't a vacation, that is just a 2 hour drive. Yeah I understand you want to be proud of your boyfriend for taking you and the kids some where, but don't over hype it and talk about it as though he taking you to the Bahamas or Hawaii.

      Re: Off Topic 2013

We are having our kitchen floor, laundry room & small bathroom re-tiled. I had to move the washer and dryer and the refrigerator last night. The Fridge is HUGE, and I had to take the doors off just to get it out of the kitchen and into the dinning room. That took forever, but the problem was I had shut off the water to the house because of the icemaker water line. Well, I can't find the turn off for that thing. So I had to leave the water off all night. I get up and go to Lowe's first thing this morning and get a cap/valve so I could turn the water to the house back on to take showers & flush the toilets.

I put the valve on there and it has a "T" piece on it and I figured if it was running with the pipe then the valve was open and water would pass through, if the "T" was opposite of the pipe I assumed it was closed. After about 20 minutes of thinking the thing was just broken, the tile guy comes in and asks what I am doing. He then says "is it tightened down all the way?" I said, yep I've got it on there tight. He says, "No, do you have the valve part tight, you have to turn them forever to stop the water." I felt like the biggest idiot in the world. The guy at Lowe's said something that made me think it was closed when I purchased it, so I'm gonna blame it on him. I'm the worst handyman in the world. I was just proud I had gotten the right piece and put it on the copper pipe correctly, lol. I turned off water, used two wrenches, I really accomplished something this morning.

The joys of plumbing. I thought you were about to say you flooded something

I may not have enjoyed my time at Home Depot all that much, but I learned enough to never have to hire a plumber for anything.

Unrelated: I just heated up my soup at work and then my manager walks in with a huge wing platter with bbq, lemon pepper, spicy mango, and some sort of spicy asian wings along with a box of corn nuggets, cheese fries, and spicy ranch fries.. and a few drinks all from a local place that's fantastic.

Why couldn't someone here tell me we were getting food before I heated up my soup ?

In July I'm taking my wife and kids to the beach. We're staying 4 nights. The pacific ocean is only two hours away. As we get closer I'm gonna hype the **** out of it!

The soup can be discarded. Wings trump everything. Surprise wings only happen a few times in a lifetime.

Anybody know of a sure fire way to get rid of Dandelions?
Not just the flower, but the root too? Short of pulling them?

I used Scott's Plus 2 and Spectricide. The flowers are gone but now my lawn is filled with their roots and they are over growing like some alien grass spider!

I'm not very smart, but was smart enough to turn off the water. However, I did move my Fridge into the other room with most of the food in it and was planning on putting the doors back on and just plugging it up in there. Then my mother in law asked why I didn't put all the food in the fridge that's in the garage. How did I ever make it through law school?

So now the doors are still off and all the food is outside where it should have been in the 1st place.

                      Milwaukee and Hawaii are indistinguishable.

I was reading an old Sports Illustrated and something caught my attention:

July 30, 2012 issue (so not that old), in the Hot / Not section

ROSES BLOOM. Pete Rose got his own reality show, on TLC. But don't worry; he swears "it's not going to be classless." (One rumored story line has Rose's fiance, a former Playboy model, getting a breast reduction.) Also: Bulls PG Derrick Rose, who tore his ACL in April, says he plans to return to the court soon.

Law school doesn't help on the Battlefield either

You should have went ahead and put in a shutoff valve while you had the water off

If you ever have a leak on the ice maker line one day you're going to have to shut the water off again.

All that plumbing talk makes me shudder as no one here is all that good of a handyman. The best person would by my sister's husband. Lord help us if we ever had a serious plumbing issue!

I'm watching the LSU-Ole Miss game from last year, since I was there and never got to see it from a broadcast perspective. It's nice to see the LSU offense looked as frustrating on national TV as it did in person.

Depends on how your neighbors yards are and exactly how close together the houses are where you live. If the houses are close together, it will be hard to get rid of them if you the only one putting stuff down. I used Round Up in the past and it worked.

But like I said if your neighbors got them and they not putting anything down, it will continue to float right over to your yard.
