Re: Off Topic 2013
Very important to note. If you go this route (I went with bald eagle with giant talons) put it on your upper arm. This works great because you don't have to wear shirts with sleeves.YNWAComment

Re: Off Topic 2013
Not sure if you guys remember what I had posted before about my academic integrity issue, but this is the main argument I have so far and I was wondering if you guys think it makes sense.
- At the beginning of the semester, and even after the project proposal was due, Professor X (obviously not her actual name) stated that our grade breakdown would be:
o 33% Exam 1
o 33% Exam 2
o 33% Final Project; according to the assignment sheet, “You will be graded on grammar and usage, in addition to an evaluation of the quality of your statistical analysis. Your grade will also be affected by the weight of your contribution to the project. If team members do not rank their team mates, the final grade will be dropped by one letter.” (I'm providing a copy of this)
Since the project proposal has nothing to do with the quality of the statistical analysis, and since Professor X had never e-mailed us about a project proposal, nor had she included a project proposal in the syllabus at all, it seems to me that it would be safe to assume that this was just like her labs; work that she wanted us to do but that she wouldn’t actually grade us on.
It’s also important to point out that Professor X sent an e-mail AFTER the proposal was due, saying that people were still looking for partners (and a list of partners was a required part of the project proposal, so you really couldn’t hand one in until after you formed your group). After this e-mail, Adam and I contacted each other and formed our group, and then we got to work on the project proposal so that we could get some feedback to help us put together a good final project. (I'm providing a copy of this e-mail from her)
So, to be clear:
1. The syllabus makes no mention of a project proposal.
2. The project assignment sheet makes no mention of a project proposal, and it also states that we’re being graded just on the quality of our statistical analysis, which has nothing to do with the project proposal.
3. As you can see from one of the e-mails that Professor X sent me during the semester (I'm providing a copy of this), she confirmed herself that she “would never change the grading scheme in the middle of the semester”, so considering the project proposal was not part of the grading scheme at the beginning of the semester, either we were correct to assume the project proposal was not graded, or there were some inconsistencies on her part in regards to how she handled the grading scheme in our class. I just want to make sure that this point is understood, because that is where this particular issue stems from.
The reasoning I just provided is the best way that I can prove that we did not believe the project proposal was going to be graded. Because of this belief, we were not worried about submitting the project proposal on time (much like the ungraded labs that Professor X tries to use as the reasoning for not believing my explanation), and as a result, we had no reason to try to trick Professor X into believing that we had submitted a proposal prior to that. We did not believe that it was being graded, so obviously there was no point in trying to do that. So basically, if you can accept my reasoning for why we believed that the project proposal was not being graded, then you should also believe that we were not trying to deceive the professor in our e-mail; you should believe that it was just a misinterpreted e-mail, as I’ve stated.
--------------------
I know that's a lot of reading, but obviously this is kind of a big deal. I don't really want to have to take a stupid seminar on academic integrity and retake a class that I should have received an A in; not to mention this could impact my ability to get an internship/job.NFL: Bills
