I like both those players, but they won't reach the levels Giroux already has. I think they'll max out as essentially a Richards/Carter duo, and we drove them out of town (promptly winning a Cup in LA).
Signing Bryzgalov completely stunted any growth Bobrovsky was going to have. Great rookie season, Laviolette pulls him after ONE playoff game where we scored I think 1 goal offensively. And he never was able to get a real shot at it again with Bryz coming to town in the offseason. Then the defense lets us down and we drive off Bryz too. Any curses the Flyers have coming their way have been earned as of recent.
It will be interesting to see if Bob has sticking power.
I definitely don't believe Mason to be the answer, but I think Emery is a good stopgap. Still, it'll really depend on our TEAM DEFENSE. If they can't put it together, can we really say our goalie failed us, again (as if it was completely true in the first place)? Laviolette's magic is running out, too.
It could be a disastrous season, or our depth offensively could finally put it all together and be a powerhouse with a suitable D and maybe a surprising year outta Mason and/or Emery. I just have this feeling it's going to be a very average year again for the Flyers, just as I had a deep down inside feeling that last year's half season would doom us.
