It is on the menu because it is popular, but it isn't soul food. Quite a few italian pizza joints and italian diners in my town have gyros on their menu and gyros for damn sure isn't italian food.

It is Hollywood BS that was made popular by movies and tv shows of what they thought soul food was. Nobody that came from the deep south ate that BS.
