Talking about dentists (I'm late to the party), mine is pretty cheap and attractive. I have no insurance so when it costs me under 100 dollars to fill in a cavity then she is a keeper. All the other dentist around here cost way to much without insurance.

          Re: Off Topic 2013

Yea, I'm beginning to wonder how many people are actually meaning "housekeeper" and not janitor.

The dorm I lived in had this: we had janitors that vacuumed and cleaned hallways, took out the hall trash and what not. No one touched your own room or private bathroom. In dorms that had hall baths, janitors would clean those.

Now of those of you that say you have/had a "housekeeper", how many physically came into your own room and cleaned your own bathroom? Not "your" bathroom in the sense it was the one you walked down the hall to use.

Doing a quick search, GWU used to have something like this where they would vacuum your room and clean your bathroom, but they ditched it. Article also mentioned many other schools that had it and dropped it, or they only do it rarely now because of costs. So to have so many people here with it seems like a high ratio. It also said the ones that do it, do it for the very reason I thought: so they can have someone check on the room routinely. When I was in undergrad, they did room checks once a month or so.

Went to my first Red Sox game the other night to see them hit a walk off against the Yankees and took a really nice panoramic picture on my phone.

Just checking up on the local news, and there was a fatal crash on the interstate. For some reason the local media thought it was a good idea to post a picture of a small child's car seat, covered in blood, sitting next to a huge puddle of blood on the ground. Having 2 young kids myself, that's definitely not something I want to see.

Definitely a fair question because I'm getting the same vibe as you but mine actually came into our room.

Car was in the shop for a month, got it back Monday, $1300 lighter in the wallet. On drive to work today, check engine light comes on.

I've never used this one before: FML.

Which is why I always do it myself, have someone I know work on it, or if I take it somewhere, find out without a shadow of a doubt they know what is wrong, have them replace it, and let me verify everything. But I wouldn't let someone keep my car for a month either. That is pitiful.

CEL could be anything. The CEL wouldn't go off in my SS Cobalt because I had put aftermarket exhaust pieces on it and had to disconnect the sensor from the cat.

CEL stays on with my truck right now. I can check it with the computer in the shop and it always throws me an o2 code for running too rich. I've replaced the sensor and it won't clear for long before coming back and the truck runs just fine.

Go to AutoZone and have it checked before you take it back to the shop you had it worked on.

That way you have something in your hand, in case they try to charge you for something that its not. Our mechanic for our vehicles at work is a little pricy, but they are really honest with customers. You don't get that everywhere.

I've been fortunate to be able to lean on my dad for that type of stuff. He rebuilt the engine in my Civic and my sisters Suzuki SUV when they went out. I can work on a lot of things, but foreign cars are so tricky.

Don't think so. Had tires, bearings, and thermostat replaced. Brought it in due to overheating and it's been fine on that front. The other stuff is work I needed done but was putting off. It could possibly have shaken things up, I don't know.

My dad does some car work so he helped me through the process. This was his trusted mechanic. The place got swamped right before I brought it in, they said off the jump it would be 2 weeks before anything more then just checking it out would take place. I was getting a bit skeptical towards the end, but he apologized for the extra delay and whatnot. Knew the work was good and he cut a break on some costs for the inconvenience.

Yeah, I'm taking it back after work. Hopefully it's something minor. If its major I'm going to have to make a decision. The other work ran me a little under half what I paid for the car 2 years ago. If it's gonna be another big bill like that, I may have to bite the bullet and look for a new car. I think this one has a good amount of life left in it though.
