My grandmother told my mother that they were wanting to have Thanksgiving dinner early this year because I leave November 11th.
My mom went to eat at my Aunt and Uncle's house for a Birthday dinner today and apparently they were discussing it when she got there.
In the past, I've made it clear that I have nothing in common with the majority of my mom's side of the family really and when I go to family reunions and Holidays, most people don't even talk to me. We may get in a conversation as a group or I may comment, but none of my cousins are going to walk up and start talking to me or even say "Hey Chase". They will just walk on by without acknowledging you. I gave up trying to force it.
My response to them wanting to do Thanksgiving early was this " It's flattering and all that everyone wants to do that for me, but since when has anyone really acted like they were going to miss me when I'm gone ?".
It's true, though. My aunts and uncles all have a lot of money and own some very successful businesses and such and their kids are spoiled ****ing rotten and nothing like me. We just don't have anything in common and we didn't hang out like a lot of cousins do when they are younger. I've got 13 cousins too.. lol.
I think part of it is that I just don't feel comfortable being some sort of center of attention because Thanksgiving brings around A LOT of people to my grandmother's.. it's a big deal every year.
I just wanted to slip out and say bye quietly to a few people and get on with my life. Again, It's a nice gesture by everyone, but I don't feel comfortable with it. Up until this point, no one has really even acknowledged the fact that I'm leaving in a few weeks besides my parents, grandmothers, and my closest friends. My mom also just informed me that she told my Grandmother what I said, so now I'm expecting to get my *** whupped next time I see her.Last edited by AUChase; 10-27-2013, 11:06 PM.Comment

I have 99% of everything moved. About 75% of things unboxed and in place. More importantly our TV den is pretty legit. Sound doesn't really leak out into the rest of the house and I'm falling back in love with my bass that is the size of a small adult.
Come back and Goh is banned. Pour one out for him.
I can finally start going through some horror movies.
