Usually from Delta. Delta has direct and/or frequent connecting flights into the airports I've used the most. I usually start with different travel sites (kayak, priceline, expedia, etc.) but more often than not I can find a cheaper or similar price by going through the airline.

Well yeah, but if you were to run your normal expenses through the card (gas, cell phone, cable, groceries, utilities etc.), you'd hit that in no time. However, you may not do it before it's time to come.

Sometimes, you can find a great deal the closer it gets to your departure date, as crazy as that sounds. Also, you can try using a fare tracker. It will alert you when fares drop to within your range of acceptability.

I had no problem running my monthly bills through there. Cable, internet, cell phones, food, etc. I autopay everything to the Credit Card and then pay off the full balance every month. I just build up the Southwest points, so we get a free flight every year or so (I don't know the exact frequency, but for free it's pretty good)...

IMO it's only worth it if you're good about paying off credit cards though.

Re: Where do you go to get your plane tickets?

I use travelocity.com the vast majority of the time, or I book flights separate on Delta.com. I'm usually flying from Memphis to Seattle and back.

Just a bit of advice on patterns I've noticed. Try to buy your tickets on Tuesdays, maybe Weds. Cheaper on Tues especially than any other days I've tried to book, especially packages on travelocity.

I do the same thing with my CC, just wish I could pay all my bills with it, mortgage and a few others can't or have fees

I'll use Kayak to search all the major engines, and then compare on the airline's website. 9 out of 10 times, I end up buying direct from the airline.

                        Ending up booking with Travelocity.

$303, including taxes and fees... Not too shabby at all! My ticket was cheaper than my buddy's who booked his flight four months ago.
